Default Predator performance tune

I just got a predator and have an 04 A4 2.73 gears. I loaded the performance tune. It first saved my factory tune (as expected) and then I loaded the factory default performance tune. After this was done I took a look at the options to modify the performance tune. When looking at the Axle Ratio it was set at 3.42. Does that mean that it set my car up for 3.42 and I need to change it to 2.73? or is it fine the way it is?

I have a blackwing and Z06 exhaust so if there are any other changes you have found to work well let me know. I am going to put in 3.42 gears next month. With the 3.42 gears is it best to change the axle ratio to 3.42 and also set the shift mph tables?

thanks,
Mike

I also want to know if when you modify the performance tune from a predator do you have to update all changable fields? For example if I adjust the shift pressure and shift speed do I need to make sure all the other feilds are default to what I expect them to be? (as stated above by default my predator shows the axle ratio as 3.42 and I have 2.73, so I don't want it to think I have 3.42)

Mine was the exact same way. However, the performance tune ran fine. When I changed to 3.42 I then had to adjust the rear end ratio.
The shift mph mentioned in the booklet (3.42 gears) also worked fine.
Good luck.

leave it alone. For the Predzator, that setting is for F-Bodies (where a speedo adjustment is required). This is not needed on the C5, so just let the Predator "3.42" stay where it defaults to.

I got my predator today, didnt have too much time to play around with it so i just loaded the performance tune before dinner. I just came back from a 20-30 minute drive now that its cooled off a bit outside and i noticed that while on the highway it seemed to have a nice pull. To test this i kept getting back on and off the highway several times to wot the nice long entrance ramps. It felt pretty good so im looking forward to modifying parameters ( some, not all ) when i learn more about it.

i installed my vinci/crane tune, there was a huge difference. i think taking off TM is the big part of it.

Just beware. Those and some other tuners overadvance the timing, and they feel great for the first few days, until they learn knock retard, and then they will start to slow back down, as they learn the low octane bias. Most do not notice this by seat of the pants, and attribute it to getting used to it. I could prove this to you on the dyno, if you'd like. You also, if you are not doing it now, should run GOOD 93 octane, which, the closest place to me, is 63rd and Western. You run 91, and you will see what I just described, either way.

That's been my personal experience, loads of knock, misfire codes disabled, etc. Tuned it myself with much better results. I have to admit the car was quick at first but never could maintain idle and dropped the speed after a few WOt runs.

If you're ever going to see any performance gains you need to get rid of those 2:73's and get something like 3:42's (like the 6 speeds) or even lower like 3:73's unlee you're only looking for top end and don't care how long it takes to get there.

thanks for the advice, yeah i do fill up w/ 93 at that station you are talking about. The car has ran fine even in this heat but tonight while driving down the expressway the active handling system started messing up and now it says i need to take it in for service. Im not sure should i just put the stock program and take the car in for service or what? Maybe going back to stock will fix whatever problem?

This is why I scared of Hand helds. I have not done any Dyno tuning either... but hope "they" dont mess it up..
