Default please help me with this problem??

I was driving around last night and then suddely felt my car weird...made a right turn and it felt like it turned off on me....I gave it gas and didn't go no where...it said REDUCE ENGINE POWER and it also said something about the traction my check engine light came on so then I turned my car back on and drove off normal...but my check engine light stayed on..what could it? By the way its a 97 c5 thanks
