I'm looking for what my options are as far as tuning goes. I know the Predator is pretty popular among the ford circles partly because of the custom tunes that can be added. Do any aftermarket guys make custom tunes for the predator and the vettes (haven't really seen any)? I also like the idea of changing other things like fan on temps, speedo stuff etc... I know hypertech makes something similar but haven't heard anything really good about it.
Is there other software out there that does this stuff? (as in runs on a laptop)
I know a dynotune would be the best for every ounce of power, but then I wouldn't have the adjustability of other things, and if it ever needed service of some sort the tune could get erased.
What do you guys think? Keep in mind the car is essentially stock (getting a blackwing or something similar over the winter, and maybe LT's in a year or so).

HPTuner and EFILive have PC based sanning and tuning capabilities and user support that will give you the best bang for the buck. Other tuner products are Tuner Cat and LS! Edit. They currently do not have scanning interfaces and scanning software like EASE or Autotap are needed. Hand held programmers are limited in application even through the Predator has custom tuning capabilities.
Since 99% of you driving is not at WOT, a scan tune will maximize these intermediate values, add a wide band analyzer and it will handle all tuning needs.
+1 on the HPTuner or EFILive tuning packages. Both have an enormous amount of online support and a very user friendly graphics interface.
A dynotune is nice for making sure your car will idle and won't self destruct at wot, but the majority of pro tuners do not have the resources to give you a good part throttle tune.
Dyno tunes are like Slam,Bam,Thank-You Mam. This is not meant as a criticism to dyno tuners. They have money invested in equipment and software that they need to recoup as well as make enough to pay their bills and make a living. If you're willing to spend the time to learn how to tune as well as make the initial outlay for the software you'll be able to get the best possible tune for not only driveability but also WOT. Also, keep in mind the extent of the mods you plan to make to your car. The more mods you do, the more it makes sense to get your own software. My 2 cents.
