Is there any software out there that will emulate the TECH 2?
looking for the ability to disable systems (like low tire pressure system) on a C5 - and $4800 for a Tech2 seems a bit pricey to me - and i hate going to dealers!
anybody seen anything like this?
are you guys kidding me? no one tunes their cars here in C5?
i was told LS1 edit wouldn't do what i need - i'm sure there has to be someone out there with knowledge on this subject
FYI - You can get a new Tech II On eBay for half that price.
What is it that you are trying to do that Ls1Edit or HPTuners can't do for you? Just curious.
i want to disable the LPTS (or whatever it's called) the guy i bought my car from put new wheels on and had the sensors removed so i keep getting that annoying "error" message

i may have to take you up on this - it's not that far away!
i'll drop ya a line when it's time for me to make a trip up if i don't find anything sooner
You can by an OM PC based software that will emulate a Tech2 from EASE. You can get a GM only edition and add the modules for all 11 modules in OBD2 models. Google them and find out more.

What year is your Corvette??? If it is a 97-00 you will not be able to disable the TPS (LPTS).

it's a '99
the guy i bought the car from said it was disabled before - and is not sure why it's not anymore perhaps when MTI tuned it it came back on?
my TUNER said it can be disabled but he does not have the correct scanner/software - that is why i want to try something else.
ease looks good - and its like $350 and i can buy upgrades for my OBD1 vehicles too - i think i might bite - it might come in hand to reprogram the ASR on my '92
With the EASE software, what Tech2 function can it not do. Specifically, if I were to replace the CCM (mine is failing) can I use the EASE Software to download the current CCM data and enter it into the new CCM so the mileage will still be correct, or do I need actual GM tech two software?
EASE has a software to reflash PCM's, but you have to use the GM certified software. However, to save a bunch of money, find a good auto shop that already has the software and spend $50 or so and have them reflash the software. My local AutoLab had that equipment and performed that on my Yukon--updated PCM from 01 to 02--for better low end towing and trans shifting. The milage is in the BCM and not affected by PCM changes. If you change PCM's, then you will also need to do a CASE LEARN procedure--about a 5 minute job. EASE does that also.
The EASE Software can't do what the TECH2 does with the body modules and other chassis modules. There are TECH2's available via EBAY for around $3k. Or you can go to your friendly dealer and see if you can make a deal with the service manager and purchase one from them. They get theirs via GM Tools for about $2200. But when you get it this way, there is NO SOFTWARE installed in the unit. It has to be programmed via their GM Intranet PC via TIS 2000. That is how I got mine, now I update my TECH2 via my standalone TIS 2000 software. Or if I am real lazy I drop by my friends dealership and upload the new releases from their system.
For OBD1 and OBD 2 cars, EASE has body and chassis modules as well as scope modules, data loggers that will scan everything from the PCM to air bags, driver door module, HUD, even you memory seats. It even has the Tech2 scanning parametersets built into the modules. However, each module has its own cost. Unlike a tech 2, you can hook you laptop up and run a scan log as long as you want and scan multiple parameters simultaneously.
I would hold off on a tech 2 for anyone. GM is moving to a PC based system in the next few years
But the old TECH2 isn't going away any time soon. All the dealers has update to add their CANDi modules for talking on the CAN network in these new cars. There is talk about the PC interface, but as you mentioned its a few years off for now. In the mean time it's the venerable TECH2. I just ordered my CANDi interface module for my TECH2. Although I have not had a instance where I needed it, the Vetronix rep offered a deal I couln't pass up
