Can a dealer determine if your car has been tuned. Particularly, if you disable torque management or change shift pressures and blow out your tranny, will they be able to read the pcm and tell if you have done something.
My car is still under warranty but has LTs, hi flow cats, x-pipe, Corsa exhaust and CIA with air bridge.
I am ready to get a tune I think but the car is under extended warranty for many more miles and years.
What's the risk that a tune will be used to not honor the warranty by a dealer.
Highly unlikely that they would identify your PCM as having been modified. However, what is likely is that they will re-flash your PCM damn any time you take it there. What that means is that your 'custom tune' will be overwritten by the dealership with the latest version of the stock tune. So, if you have someone tune your car:
A) Invest in a tuning tool so that you can download/upload your tune to your car
or
B) Check that your tuner will re-flash your car for free with the custom tune if the dealer does overwrite it.
