Default Dyno Tuning for Dummies

OK guys, please cut me a break. I have a custom tune from "Superchips" (the only hand-held that will work with my mods on a '98). I know, I know, get LS1 edit, HP Tuners, etc.- but I am happy with what I have.

I am having my local dyno guy make some pulls to get baseline data. I will send the data and the unit back to Superchips who will write a new custom code (if necessary) and send it back for upload.

I have never dynoed my car before, so I need some help as to what are the critical performance parameters that I should look for on the dyno data- and what are the "conservative optimum performance" values I should look for? I would like to understand what is "in range" vs. "out of range".

I need a "primer" in air/fuel ratio, fuel trims, etc.

Thanks in advance.

If you are running the car on a dyno.. unless it is a load cell, you are really only going to be checking WOT and your A/F.

You want to have the A/F at about 13:1 for a normally aspirated application. Shooting for 12.7-8 is probably good as the common idea is that the car will run a hair leaner on the street.

Hope that helps.

My 00 C5 had better base/factory results then my 04, so it’s really hard to say what difference is going to be on stock vette. Oh, my 04 was so rich it was almost off the chart.
