Default Predator users, check your performance tune gear ratios...

I have been running with the Predator performance tune, and the car easily chirped its tires or lost traction at 25 mph when I would punch into it. Pretty satisifed...

Yet, with that being said, I played around with the performance tune modification program for the first time this week and I discovered the original Predator performance tune was using a gear ratio of 3.42, yet I have the 2.73 gears.

Well, I adjusted it to the correct gear ratio and at 25 - 35 mph she will now break loose and spin the tires for about half a block at WOT. That's taking into account the runflats have about 35,000 miles on them. I also adjusted the other parameters as well. Very, very satisfied with the set up now.

Just wondering if anyone else had noticed the wrong gear ratio being used when installing the initial performance tune?

The 1999 thru 2003 exclusive model of the Predator has a gear scaling "bug" for the C5 A4. So it doesn't matter what you set it to... it's not going to make any difference.... at least as I've always understood it to be.

Possibly one of the other settings you changed gave the SOTP improverment ???

Mike, thanks for the information on the bug. I was wondering why it was reflecting the wrong gear ratio.

I added 5% power enrichment, advanced the spark 10% (2 degrees?), raised the shift RPMs to 6000 across the board, raised the rev limiter to 6200, added 5% shift pressure, and -5% on the shift time. I assume that those changes are what probably gave it a kick in the pants if the gear ratio isn't part of the equation.
