Default Moderators, please close the links leading to ebay

If I want to buy on ebay, I will go to ebay.
But some guys misuse this forum for their sales on ebay.

I am here to buy or sell from or to forum members directly. So please keep this forum clean.

Sorry, but I had to write this down

I'll take both sides of this one. It does seem like there are getting to be too many ebay links. If it gets much worse, maybe they should be nixed. Maybe forum members should get a 20% discount on the buy it now deal?

Forum members are allowed to sell their personal Corvette on the Forum. If they also elect to put the car on eBay, it's their perogative. While it may annoy some, it is not a violation of Forum rules.

:iagree:

The Corvette Forum is not an auction site. Now if someone saw something on an auction site and reported it that is one thing but directing us to eBay is not in the spirit of C5 Parts for Sale/Wanted. I clearly see a difference between For Sale and Up For Auction.

Just my 2 cent!

Some of the post here are getting like an auction--"make me an offer"--"what do you want for it"--"thats not enough"--Then what do you want"

Forum members are allowed to sell their personal Corvette on the Forum. :
Posting nothing but a link to an ebay auction is NOT selling parts here. It is selling parts on ebay and just letting people here know about it. Half the time the post here isn't even from the actual seller.

If they also elect to put the car on eBay, it's their perogative.
I agree with this, IF they are actually selling somethng here....meaning if it's posted here, I should be able to buy it right here and now for the asking price. Whether or not an auction is also going is irrelevent. If the seller's ebay auction won't be cancelled due to "local sale" (meaning sold here, if a forum member wants to buy before auction end), then it shouldn't be posted here.

I agree the ebay links are getting more numerous and annoying. If you want to sell a part here, then sell the part here. If no luck, THEN put it on ebay.

Have to agree with you :iagree:

I choose to purchase items here because I trust the forum members more than ebay. Maybe it is my own stupidity, but if I wanted to get into a bidding war, I would go to ebay. I feel our forum has a more personal approach to selling things.

If you want to sell on ebay. It's your choice but I don't think you should use this forum for free advertising.

:iagree: I get annoyed at the pointers to Ebay auctions too. If you want to sell it here, sell it here. Don't make someone go to Ebay.

I will add my .02 because I have done this iin the past.

Nothing in the rules section say it is not allowed, so I do this:

In my title line I start with "Ebay"..as in "Ebay: C5 shifter"

This lets people know that if they click on the topic, there will be an ebay link.

I think that is fair and is within our rights to do so. Saying to not post ebay links is like saying you can advertise your car on the forum, but can not put signs on your car, post it in your local newspaper, or submit it to autotrader, etc.

Why should a seller not be allowed to expand coverage and let more people know about the item being sold? I for one also like the ebay links...there are a few items I currently would not own if I had not seen the link here.

When you say the items are cluttering the site...get real, there are so many posts here on a daily basis that ebay links represent yet a small part of those posts. Take a weekly average of all posts and then get back to us with numbers...that would be stating a fact and not just your own opinion.

It is simple...if you do not like ebay links, do not click on them....the same as if I were selling a wheel and you are not looking for one...do not click on the topic...

it's just like watching television. if you don't like the station, either change the channel or turn it off. ebay links = no harm; no foul.

Disagree, If you want to advertise your parts here, you should give forum members the chance to buy it before you post it on Ebay. Putting it on ebay then telling members about it only helps one person, the seller. They aren't doing us any favors, just jacking his bids up.

You are doing the Forum member the favor by bidding on his/her product. They/We list them on Ebay to reach a broader market because contrary to popular opinion not everyone is a member here nor inclined to be one either. Why limit your market share.

As already stated.....If you don't like the ebay links then don't click on them. Not real hard and as an avid Ebayer I don't see a problem.

How many of you Nay-sayers are "I don't like Ebay and will not buy there" people?? Perception is a funny thing sometimes.

I vote for leaving ebay on ebay. I search ebay often and buy but always look here as I love the product line. Not that I make the rules but if you want to post it here, you should try it here for a few days before ebay. I would rather buy from here than ebay. No time limits and bidding can be (is) a pain, often not worth it. If I want it, I want to get it done yannow?
