This is Bob at Fichtner Chevrolet,

You may want to wait a couple of days as the recall coming out on the column lock will probably take care of your need at GM's expense. To read about it go to Kens Newsletter section under forums.

GM has announced a recall on this. The recall will happen next quarter, if you can hold out till then, it will be free!

Yeah, but on 6-speed cars the General's "fix" is only to reprogram the PCM so that IF the column locks the car will be disabled. The "fix" does not prevent the column lock from happening in the first place. I'd rather NOT take that chance and get stranded somewhere!

Thunder Racing's is $49, COH's is $129. What's the difference?

The price, I'm guessing.

I saw this exact same kit for $99 elsewhere.

I'm getting the $49 kit as well...

do a history on your car..might be possible youre still under recall..they issued a initial recall on some 6 spds..they were going as far to replace the actuator in the column. theyve been locking ip since 97 and look where we are today..the new recall will be software related on 6spds..after 7 years youd think they would have actually figured out how to fix the problem..good luck
