Default Consumer Alert

The CorvetteForum has received complaints from several members who say they have paid for wheels that have not been delivered by a former Forum member.

The banned member, who has used the screen names "Danger Dave" and "SHARK WOMAN" is not and has never been a suppoprting vendor on the Forum.

As always, Forum members are encouraged to exercise caution when buying from or selling to people they don't know.

The CorvetteForum, its administrators and moderators are not in a position to offer advice in private transactions between Forum members and others and can assume no responsibility in these matters.

That is why paypal is the must in forum transactions - if you don't the item you get your money back.

Always better to stick with a supporting vendor for your Corvette needs. You know where to find those guys if something goes wrong and, in my experience, they are response to customers.

As a word of caution, that PayPal guarantee only applies if you shipped to a confirmed address. Many people have their stuff delivered to their office where they can sign for the UPS packages. Most have their credit card, email and Pay Pal info connected to their home address where they normally are not available during the day. So you are shipping to a different address than their billing address. Many on line companies will then ask you to fax a copy of the credit card or avoid it altogether.

So there may be a legitimate reason but in any case, "let the buyer beware". Dave :smash:

Unfortunately that didn't work for me. I'm one of his victims......... he kept me on the hook for just over the 30 days paypal will honor disputes. I didn't know there was a 30 day limit and the creep's lying excuse was a pending death in the family.........can you imagine that? He played me like a violin. His name is:
Dave Reed, aka Danger Dave, dba Fast Lane Wheels. Here is his pic as posted over in C4 and C5 general............

The forum is a great experience, we shouldn't let people like this detract from our feeling of brotherhood..... I know I won't! :yesnod:

Holy CSI, Batman. Do you see his license plate number there along side the picture of this creep ? That really sucks that you have been burned, but have you filed a complaint with the police on this ? If you paid and never received the goods and he is in another state, I think that there is something serious about interstate theft that should get the authorities anxious to chat with this guy. Maybe they will prompt him to make you whole. This is also mail fraud. I would guess you can learn enough by tracking those plates. Someone in the forum must be a cop, attorney, or license bureau employee that can help you here. Then maybe other people who got ripped can at least see some justice. :smash: :boxing

If this forum is anything like mine www.Britishcarforum,com the admins here may be able to go through their raw access log files and determine his actual IP address - then nail the B****rd! I had a guy trying to cheat on a game I was running on my forum, and I determined that via my raw access logs. It takes a bit of work, and depending on the last time this guy posted here, it may be possible. Once they have his IP, they can determine his ISP and let the authorities take it from there. Just something to consider.

Ummmmm....a couple of questions here.

1) How in the heck did this thread come back to life???

2) How in the heck does it say that the last post (prior to mine) was done on 12-31-1969?????

Thats funny, I didnt even know that the Corvette Forum was around in 1969

Dont be so confident in Pay pal either. There is a class action law suit againts Paypal now for violations of the Electonic Funds Transfer Act. ie they did not transfer money to the consumer as required by law.

Several years ago my company had to sue PayPal to get our money out of them. They did not transfer Over $100 K or OUR money as they were contraced to do. Yes we got our money and damages too.

Needless to say I will not use Paypal as I dont trust them.

Sounds like a federal offense to me - crossing state boundaries via the internet. I bet the FBI could track him down just with the electronic trail he left on this forum.
