Default WTB: Torque tube for a 2000 C5 6 speed

Trying to help out a friend. I'm needing to purchase a torque tube for a 2000 C5 six speed. If anyone has one for sale or could lead me in the right direction, it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

BTW: does anyone know if the torque tube is year specific only or otherwise?

I am not an authority on these, but I think there is a difference between the early C5 model years and the later (around 2001). I believe they are forward and backward compatible but the newer ones are rebuildable whereas the older ones are not. ALso, there is a 10 blot and 12 bolt design of which I believe the 12 bolt was for the Z06. Maybe some others will chime in to confirm or offer more accurate info.

Good luck on your search.

No... they are both rebuildable. There is a 10mm version and a 12mm version, the 12mm version was used in 2001 and up and is backwards compatible with the 97-00 10mm version.

Are you sure there is no early version out there that is NOT rebuildable? I thought I heard from two different credible sources (one being RPM Transmissions and the other a different CF supporting vendor) that the early C5 torque tubes were not rebuildable but they redesigned them at some point during the model run. I'll have to go back and ask for clarification...maybe I misunderstood.

Also, there is an auto and manual trans version of each.

The rubber couplers go bad after many miles of hard driving. Your 03 is fine unless you beat the crap out of it, and even then I think its fine! Backwards compatible means it will fit in an earlier year. We could take the tube out of your 03 and it would fit my 99 with zero modifications.
