My understanding is that they are phasing the regular Ultracs out. I still have access to some sizes but not the 285/35/17's. Let me know if there are any other brands or styles that you like. I can get several different brands.
Thanks,
Pete

Pete, do you know if Canada has a dealer? I can't get this info from their website.

Let me know if anyone from Canada orders from you willya?

I'm already a happy Vredestein user Any loyalty discounts? -

Unfortunately 315's are still just made in the 17's. All other sizes max out at 295 width. We'll be sure to post if new sizes come out.

Pete, a few months ago around here, someone in Canada imported a set of tires from the USA. They were probably Michelins. The border Customs wouldn't let the tires across because they didn't have the necessary documentation that showed they met Canada's tire standards. The buyer was bewteen a rock & a hard place with his tires stuck in Customs. I'll see if I can find the thread.

Edit - I easily found it. This is the only part that matters and it's from the gubmint website -

Can I purchase tires in the United States for personal use in Canada?
Yes, provided that the tires have a United States Department of Transport (DOT) symbol on the tires, you may import them into Canada. Moreover, you must declare the tires at Canada Customs and pay the applicable taxes and/or duties.

These are DOT approved. I honestly do not know all the rules that Canadian customs might impose. My guess is that perhaps this person tried to import some drag tires that were not approved for street use. I just don't know. Let me know what you find out.

280 AA-A

Here's a previous thread I found that tells just about everything you need to know. I do know Vredestein has been renowned for its winter tires in Europe for years, recommended by Volvo and others:

It is a 280 treadwear rating. Now what this would translate to in terms of mileage is very fuzzy. These are performance street tires so they are in the target range (generally 280 to 320) They are designed to be "sticky" to maximize traction. A tire with a higher treadwear rating (like say 480) would give you more miles but it would be a much harder material and you would sacrifice traction. So it does boil down to a trade-off of longevity vs. performance. Most Vette owners would opt for a tire like this one.

Default Thanks for the Vreds! Need more...

Pete,

Thanks for promptly shipping my Vredesteins a few weeks ago... Have 1000 miles on them and they ROCK!!

Now my brother wants some for his ride. Do these come in 255/xx - 17?

He'll either need 4x 275/40-17 or 2x 275/40 and 2x 255/xx (both 17").

What kind of price are we looking at for these options? Thanks again!

It would be the same price either way:
(4) 275/40/17 are $539 plus $75 to ship
(2) 255/40/17 & (2) 275/40/17 are $539 plus $75 to ship.
Let me know if you'd like a set.

You're looking for the Vredestein Ultracs (not the Ultrac Sessantas). My understanding is that they are phasing those out. The sizes you're looking for are not available. Are there any other brands or styles you might be interested in? PM me and I'll be happy to see what I can get.
Thanks,
Pete
