The FattDaddy Frame Protector...Exclusively at CCA
The FattDaddy
Often Imitated, Never Duplicated
All FattDaddys are now Powder Coated
High Gloss Bengal Black
High Gloss Bengal Black
The "FattDaddy" was designed and engineered by Custom Corvette Accessories
with strength in mind. The "FattDaddy" uses grade 5 bolts and has and 1 7/8"
polyurethane wheel that can withstand up to 800 pounds of
operating pressure and 1200 pounds of static load.
The "FattDaddy" is a single wheel front clip frame saver that inserts through a
3/8 inch hole you drill in the frame. The "FattDaddy" distributes its load via a
grade 5 bolt, giving you the ultimate in peace of mind and protection for your
Corvette frame.
If you are tired of that horrific scraping sound every time you back out of the
driveway or go over a speed bump, you can protect your front clip from frame
damage like this with the "FattDaddy" .
In our steadfast tradition of "Killing the Corvette Tax, one product at a time"
We are thrilled to offer the "FattDaddy" at an introductory price of
not $99.99, not $79.99, not even $59.99 on sale, but...
CCA Priced
at
$54.99
Please visit our web site at

I just purchased a set. Great price! The site worked fine for me. Took me right to PayPal and I was done in about 1 minute.

Is it $44 or $49?
I ordered a set, but the website charged $49 plus shipping, not $44 plus shipping. What's up with that? Also it looks like it's a different design on your website.

Bob, I sent you an email, explaining what Cosmo said above.
Let me know which one you want and I'll make sure you get the correct one.
If you want the FattDaddy instead of the FattFattDaddy, I'll make sure you get the adjustment as well.
If you have any questions, feel free to call. I should be back from the fabricators by mid afternoon Friday.
Peace

Our structural engineer suggested grade 5 over grade 8 bolts. In overall tensile strength a grade 8 bolt is stronger, however in shock strength, they are more fragile. (they are more susceptible to shattering when shocked) The grade 5 bolts are more shock resistant because they are a little softer...

it's all about shear strength, not tensile load in this particular application. So, the diameter of the bolt is the deciding factor. The toughness of the softer metal is greater because it is less prone to brittleness. Do you understand? Trust me, I am a Materials Engineer.

where exactly is this mounted?
From the pics it looks like it is mounted to the skid plate frame, not to a chassis component. If this is so, the impact loads will still be applied to the radiator support. This could lead to subsequent damage to those components, especially in a high speed impact. I hope you have figured out how to work around this design defect forced upon us by GM.

We agree, the frame protectors wll not aid in a high speed impact.
These units are designed for roll over assistance in low speed applications such as speed bumps or driveway inclines.
If you hit the frame hard enough to do damage, the FattDaddy or any other frame protector out there will not help to keep your frame, or car from being damaged.

What I've always wondered about frame savers is, don't they essentially extend the frame further on down, by protruding below the actual frame piece, thereby making the liklehood of impacting something even greater? That's basically why I've never bought a set of these things. Not intended as a flame, just a question.

They do stick down aprox 3/4 of an inch below the frame. Here are some pics.
