I looking into A C-5 What do you guys think?
Since I've sold my C-3 wife and I are wanting a C-5 and found one not to far away--2000 hard-top,6sp black-w/94,000 asking $19,900--I called on it they said it was a Florida car and everything is in great wroking condition with a 2 yr extended warranty, tire will need to be replaced and has original clutch as far as they know...What do you guys think I know what tires and a clutch cost for a C-3 and also power-seat sicks on driverside---what do you guy think--I don't need one now but seems like a good deal???? Thanks

Are the sellers willing to deal on the price at all? It is a buyers market for C5's right now. The price for the mileage seems a little high. You should be able to find a nice 99-00 with a lot lower miles for the low 20's.

higher on a C5. There are a lot of nice low mile cars out there.
I would pay a little more for a car with lower miles.

see if you can get the price down some...almost 20k for any car with 94,000 miles is a little steep. or as stated before try and find a lower mile car and pay a bit more if it's in your budget. I would not pay more than 12 or 13k even if it's i n mint shape
there was another thread here about a Z06 for sale with 8k miles and it was going for 28k...granted it's a great deal,,but I think you see what I mean
good luck

I would think the market is flooded with C5's right now. It should be a buyer's market, so you can and should be very choosy. My 2001 has less than 11K on it and I doubt I could get much more then you are paying for a very well used C5. I say keep shopping for the creampuff, low mileage, "steal of a deal" that is bound to turn up.

94,000 miles is a lot of miles. Everyone wants your C5 experience to be a good one as the C5 is the best Vette they ever made.
That said, I would look for one with fewer miles because of the maintenence costs you will undoubtably encounter with a 94,000 mile car. A C5 clutch and install is not cheap. Fixing that seat won't be cheap either.
You probably won't have much change left over from $1200.00 for those two. New set of tires will run you at least $1100.00-$1200.00 when you get done with balancing, mounting, valve stems, road hazard, disposal of your old tires and all the other hidden crap they gouge you with.

Keep looking... At 94K that car still has miles on it, but it's better ones have already been run out of it... I think you can do much better than that for only a couple of thousand dollars more.

As my entry into the C4 series Corvette, I would not buy a car with 94 K miles unless it came with a B-B warranty. Seems about the right time to replace all those owner pays items.

I have both a C5 w/79,000 miles and a C3 with 106,000 miles. Beware of just mile count - a C5 with 20K all in 1/4 mile sprints will be much more worn out than a 80,000 mile one driven on freeways . Lower mile is usually better, but check condition, gas, brake, clutch peddle, oil condition, tranny fluid, brake pads, etc.. ... I think I could drive my C5 to well over 200K miles and have less hassles than I have already had with the C3 in only one year! You owned a C3 - so you know what I am talking about.
Tires - agreed that > $1K for all four is normal for a C5. But besides some mods - plugs, wires, pvc mod, tires (no run craps!), chrome wheels, a few others (nothing internal) - my C5 is a pleasure to drive, and dirve it I do. C5 prices are coming down, but I would not sell my 98 for < $20K personnally. I would say if you find a good C5 for ~ $19K you are doing good.

94,000 miles is a lot if you don't know who has put those miles on or know the service history. Good Luck and post some pics of her when you find the right one.

Tires can cost you as little as $600...clutch may be fine if it wasn't abused, and driver's seat can be fixed for $150 if you buy a track on eBay and install yourself.
I wouldn't be afraid of 94k miles, but for 20k, you can likely buy less miles...

A 90 some thousand mile car should be a lot cheaper than that!

you might want to watch out for this also, florida cars generally have electrical problems once they cracked the 100 mark.
Edit: Buying new tires right now (non-run flats) for $580 to my front door.
For a set of Dunlop SP9000's (285/40/18) .. 10mm bigger than stock

IMO, that's too high for a car with 94K on the clock. Many low mileage examples can be found for about the same amount. Shop around - there are good deals out there.
