Default Headlight Override

In my older Vette's, there was an driver compartment override to allow the headlights to stay open, but turned off. This was great for cleaning, waxing, and when stuck in freezing rain conditions so they didn't get frozen shut.

Is there a similar feature on the '04 C5? I haven't found it if there is.

Turn them on then click back one. Or you can manually raise them with the *****. They're covered by a rubber boot that even tells you that you can raise them manually.

Use the manual ***** to raise them. They are covered with a rubber dust boot just to the inside of each light.

Yep, both of these will work.

I am sure these both will work. For the one click back method, it still leaves your parking lights on and if you remove the key and exit you get the lights on alarm and a dead battery after a while.

Does anyone know of a mod to install a switch to override the electric motor?

Yep, that's a good point. I think we all focused on the cleaning/waxing part of your post and not the "Stuck in freezing weather" part. I've had other cars that allow this, but I'm not aware of anything for the Corvette, just the manual crank em up method. No bell, no dead battery, just a few dozen turns of the *** per side : Hopefully someone else will have some ideas.
