Sorry about your close call, but I enjoyed the post! Maybe you could have traded a ride for the promise that he never, ever touch the Corjette!

Its only a car folks and he's a little boy. Wouldn't it have been better to let him sit in it and really make his day?

Doesn't have to be a little kid. I was filling my tank at a gas station and an adult guy comes over and lays his road map, belly, and elbows on my deck lid and asks for directions. I promptly gave him some.

I would used the panic button on the remote to scare the hell out of the Spaz to teach him a lesson.

I wasn't mean to SPAZ at all, I was actually nice - I just didn't want him touching my car =)

So SPAZ will, next time, show his friends where the hidden lights are by using a crow- bar borrowed from his dad..

I had the same thing happen when I went to West Virginia. But I was waiting for my girlfriend at a Texas Roadhouse where we were picking up a take out order. So I'm sitting in my car and 1 person walked by and rubbed there finger down the side of my car and then about a couple minutes later an old lady walked up and put her hands on my drivers side window and tried to look in. Both people were walking in seperate from each other and they both seen me as they walked further away from my car and they both kinda freaked out. WTF!!!
I know I've heard West Virginia is messed up but what the hell. It sounds like no one there has any manners. Some parents obviously needed to do some more azz whippin.
Plus every punk on the street there have Hondas, Eclipses or any other foreign car you can think of trying to be like the Fast and the Furious. And the worst thing is that they are all Show no go.
I went to Dairy Queen while I was down there and this zit face geek came up to me there and was like, " I bet my friends car will beat yours." So I asked him "what kind of car does your friend have?" he said ," A Cougar that ran 7 seconds in the 1/4 mile." So I was like, "ok wheres it at?" His reply," oh its in the shop." His friend wasn't even with him or anywhere around and hes talking S_it! I just laughed and walked away. WTF?

I've got a "Spaz" in my neighborhood too. I know exactly how you feel! My Spaz used to ride his bike up my driveway at blistering speeds and stop within inches of my vehicles (and once into my garage next to my vette). I had a talk with him and laid down some ground rules. He now parks the bike by the mailbox and walks up when he visits. Good luck.

Every area has thier own "spaz". The one in my area got close to my car with his bike. But thank god the other kids saw him and said to stay back from my car. Jeesh... you should have seen my sons reaction, you would swear the car was his. cool!

"You see, I was torn. I didn't want to run out and yell
at SPAZ to get away from my car. I didn't want his
parents (who were across the street in their driveway),
to think I'm some kind of paranoid jerk. So I was urging
my DAD to go out and tell SPAZ to take a hike.

But to my surprise (since I've let him take a number
of drives in my Vette), my dad was like, "Why don't
you go out and tell him?"

You should show him the car and take that time to school him on not touching it because that's what good Corvette guys do. Once he's seen it... then that might curb some of his curiousity. Plus we do have to plant the seed for upcoming Vette owners.

Tough situation - the parents are the ones that need the talking to. They should have taught their son to be more considerate of other's property. But, this could have been a good opportunity to teach Nate the finer points of admiring cars. Glad I don't have this problem to address.

Great post, thanks for sharing! I totally agree with all the post. You have to educate and hopefully the parents are listening too....

The "Spaz" in our neighborhood turns out to be a 35+ year old doctor ("she" is an OB/GYN) and just got a new viper and is talking sh!! about racing our vette and her viper?! Not to mention she lets eveybody drive her car that wants to and was saying this weekend how she is not a "freak" about her car and doesn't believe in wiping and cleaning all the time!

Oh No!!! How do we educate her!?

PS... All the kids know to keep away from the Corvette! But they Love It!
