Default What type of radar detector is this?

I just bought a used 2000 C5 and it has a radar detector built in.

There is a small dial that controls the volume control on the left side of my steering wheel.

The light indicator is a small LED light mounted on the steering wheel column.

The car didn't come with any paperwork on the detector and I cannot find an antenna, control box, etc.

Does anyone know anything about this?

Thanks!

I don't think its the sr7/srx. I have never heard of just having a small LED indicator light for it.

I have the SRX and the small control box looks like this:

Does it chirp like a bird when you turn it on? Does the **** have two positions that make the LED change color? Is there a second or third LED that only lights when you turn the radar on? If you answer yes to those it is a K40 undetecable. If there are two red LEDS and two buzzers then you have a front and rear K40. Sensors in the front and rear of the vechicle.

Yes...this is it! Great job!

Is this a good detector and does it have Ka and Laser coverage?

K40 makes an excellent radar detector. As for Ka and Laser you have to determine which model you have. You should be able to do that by looking at the back of the control ****. The control **** has a black box attached to it. All of the wire connections are made there. The model number should be on it. Then you can look on K40's web site and tell it's features. I might have the installation manual for it and can tell you more...if the web site does not tell you enough.

Hey Rob
What model and year Vette is it? I traded in my 98 Vert with the K40 undetectable system still in the car. Sounds like that is what you have, it's a very good piece. The receiving unit is probaly behind the front fascia.

Mine is a 2000 C5. Did you like your K40?

Did it catch laser and Ka?

Het Eatrice, you have a very attractive lady in your vette photo.

I like what you did and will be sure to take a similar photo with my vette.

Thanks Rob...I now try to take pics with "hotties" anytime I am at a show. That was Daytona last year. Hoping to have some new ones from Vegas in Nov.

I forgot to mention unless K40 made a change the laser unit is an add on stand alone piece. K40 makes an excellent product. I have owned 4 undetectiables and have install dozens of all their product line. Good product.
