WHAT ARE THE BEST TiRES FOR THE C5
I'm sure this dead horse has been beaten a few times but I'm new and haven't seen quitwe the answer I am looking for. I was looking on tire rack at tires and It seems to me overall the best tire to buy for handling would be the goodyear F1 GS-D3's I am looking for the best overall tire with an emphasis on handling. from what I've seen these are excellent tires. Any ideas?

it looks like it is either the pilot sports or the Gs's of these two taking tread wear into consideration, would like to get about 30,000 miles out of the tire which should I pick?

Depends if your talking about street, autocross, or dragstrip tires. I'm shopping for street/dragstrip tires right now -- looks like it is going to be the Nitto 285's.

The GS D3s are every bit as good as the Michelins, cost hundreds less AND are made in the USA. What more could you ask of a tire????
Needless to say, I love my GS D3s!

I went to Tire Rack and looked at Mich Pilot Sports and found quite an assortment. Which are you guys referring to? There is one listed that says "Zero pressure." Could this be a run-flat that has actually been suggested (as opposed to conventional tires that I thought you guys were suggesting)?
And what sizes have you tried on your stock wheels? I noticed at a recent shop night, someone in the CCA has rear 295-35-18s (didn't look at the front tires) on what appeared to be stock '99 wheels.

The ZP is a runflat, and a damned nice one, too. Those few autocross days you'll be thankful, believe me. Quiet, 400 treadwear rating, pretty damned good at gripping the road. in ASP I was able to stay w/in 2,2-5 seconds of the fully prepped ASP guys on Kumhos (which i now use for Ax :yesnod ).
As an all around kick-azz tire, the Pilot Sport ZP is it.

To be precise, Michelin Pilot Sport A/S zp. A/S stands for all season and they are great in the rain and even supposed to work in the snow, althought I hope I never find out.

This is to counter the beaten to death story...
40 years ago. Those were the memories
Of course, this was my "daily driver" because back then just about everyone raced on the weekends what they drove on the street during the week. I used the Atlas "Bucron" tires (8.00X14) and 4.88 gears on the street. I don't know if you may remember those tires but they were really "sticky" and because all the racing slicks back then were "re-caps", these things worked very well for traction, although because of that you didn't get any mileage out of them!

Safety Car
ive never had the pilots but i refuse to buy anything french
i have the gsd3s on my car and they are the best tire ive ever owned
in the rain these things are tough to break loose and i have a 6 spd
on dry they grip like they are bolted to the road
i think you people praising the pilots should also mention that youve never had the gsd3s
in my non humble opinion the tread pattern on the gsd3s is the sexiest ever put on a tire
the pilot is just another tire i think
btw i can get you a nice price on a set of gsd3s....let me know what you decide
