I have some questions for all you Z guys
I just got my self a 2001 Z06 and it runs awsome. But i got 2 questions for now. What is the clatering noise when you shut the car off, and is it good or bad? Two would it be a good idea to get a lower temp stat, and what temp? i already had the car dyno tuned, and had the fans lowered it runs at like 194 all the time. i guess thats really like 4 questions but yeah.
thanx
Jimmy

With the FLP headers, I went to a 160 thermo, others say the 172 is better, it is more important to set your fan on and off temps with a programer to a lower temp than to change the thermo. In addition some have found that water wetter or purple ice help the heat transfer faster.

Keep the The Clutch IN When you shut it off. The noise should be gone.
The stock fan setup comes on at about 225. The AC also turns them on. the Temp should be in the 190's when your moving. The Computer wants the Temp in the 190's. I would leave it.

Unlike the C4, the C5 produces best power when the water temp is 190-194. Ten degrees colder or hotter than that will given a measurable reduction in acceleration, more than a tenth in quarter mile ET.
So unless you plan to do road racing, your car will perform better if you keep the thermostat that you have.
