HURST SHIFTERS THIS IS HOW TO QUIET THEM
get a prop shaft zinc of the proper size from your local boat store
and attach to shifer shaft. This will stop 90% OF THE RATTLE.

I'll have to try that too - sounds like a good idea! I like my Hurst, but the rattle under hard acceleration drives me crazy. Sounds like crap.
How far up towards the **** do you put the zinc?

I had a VERY loud rattle on hard acceleration. Added a MGW **** and it went away. I later added some carpet padding and it quieted down. I tried to do the pvc cap mod but the person who installed it cut the boot back too much for the pvc cap to hold. Last time I have someone else work mod my car!!. Anyway do a search on pvc mod. These mods make the shifter much more enjoyable. I could never go back to stock.

Mmmmm mine does not rattle but it does make noise in the lower gears. I love it and even with the OEM ****. I do have an aftermarket on the way... I love how tight it is now and the car feals so much more precise. Now if it will stop raining long enough to get a few runs in... Great info um got a link for this???

It's all about the ****, the Hurst does not rattle. I have a MGW Gripper **** and it makes no more noise that the OEM set up.
If this mod helps eliminate any noise issues you have - cool, but it's not the Hurst that is rattling or buzzing - it's the **** at the end of the lever.

I believe the Hurst amplifies any rattle induced by your tranny. I suspect the vastly varying experiences here are a result of design tolerances in the tranny.

Just put the zinc weight as high as you can and still get the boot back on .
It's just a 3 min job. Get recipt for the zinc and you lose only 3 mins if it doesn't work for you.

I guess the zinc acts as a vibration dampner, absorbing some vibrations before they get to the top of the shifter. I can't wait to try it.

I put a Z06 **** on last night... made it longer, and fealt like stock and I did not like it. I put the stock **** back on and I loved it. I was shifting well, and got the car to spin from 3rd to 4th on a decent run at the track. My RTs are all over the place but I am having fun. All in all I love my hurst and it is a huge change and I am not changing a thing with it.. well made a shift boot...

Using a heavy billet ****, like MGW's does the trick in removing the rattle caused by driveline harmonics that emit out the stock ****. I have their Pistol Grip **** in black. Matches my interior and is easy to hold. I painted the ***** top shift pattern emblem black to match.

if they don't know what a zinc is they shouldn't be in the marine business.
Zincs are put on boats because salt water conducts electricity, the zincs absorb it before it gets to the metal engine and causes a problem (corrosion) They also deteriorate over time so i'm not so sure that putting zincs on your shifter is a great idea IMHO.
