Default Ready For This Crap, I am So PI&*ED

My 02 Z06 as two defective tires, both on the right side, Elongated bubbles on sidewalls. The Dealer agrees their bad; GM SAYS THE CAR HAS TO GO BACK TO THE DEALER AND SIT ON BLOCKS OR A LEFT WHILE THAY TAKE THE DEFECTIVE TIRES OFF AND SEND THEM BACK TO GM, GM then analyzes the Tires and when satisfied that indeed the tires are defective, GM will send the Dealer the New Tires. MEANWHILE my Z is suppose to be sitting inside or outside some dealership for who knows how long getting nicked knocked, dirty, greasy, and who knows what else.

I told the GM Rep I’ll pay for the damn tires, Get them on the Car, Then you take the old tires, do what ever it is that you do with them and when your freaking ready, you credit me back for the defective tires.

The GM Rep tells me they can’t do that. I have to bring the Car In,

I don’t Get It, ANYBODY HAVE THIS KIND OF PROBLEM, NEED HELP

That's insane. Another alternative would be to just put the car on jack stands in your garage and bring them the wheels and tires. They can do what they need with them and then return the set back to you when they are complete. I wouldn't leave my car at the dealer for an extended stay either

I don't see why you can't put it up in your garage and take in the rims/tires yourself...I'd involve the Area Rep and take it from there

How about you ask if you can buy the tires now and have the dealer to re-imburse you if they find the tires defective? If they don't find the tires defective you'd have to buy new ones anyway.....

Hi ZO6Lee -

That just blows -

Who is the customer here?

I would phone the goodyear customer support line and give them a long rant -
Mention that you want a rental Corvette while yours is out of service due to the shoddy products with the GY logo on them that came on your car...

I have had good luck with the GY customer service before - they had the local bozos (Terry Winn GY) replace my wheels (on a firebird) when they scratched the heck out of them while rotating my tires...

Good luck - I hope you get this taken care of ASAP.

best regards -

This is sound advice.

Sorry for the bad news. I have to agree 100 % regarding the threads leaving the Vette home and removing the tires ( wheels) yourself. Hell dealerships dont have room for their own vehicles, nevermind yours, and sure as hell wont worry about it. Hope it works out in your favor. Good luck

Hope it works out for you, there is no way I would leave the car at the dealers for an extended amount of time. I would get the tires replaced and start a letter writing campaign to GM and Goodyear. Buy the way I do not recall seeing a MY Z06 around town, do you get it out much? Good luck.

"Sheet" I thought there was only 1 Kalefornia in the US. Can you just give them the rims so the Z will at least be parked in your favorite place?

This unfortunately is so typical. Obviously, this is not what any reasonable, fair minded person would think is adequate performance under the warranty agreement. If I was you, I would vigorously complain to the dealership, GM, and Goodyear and make such a pain in the AZZ of myself in hopes that one of those three would just fold and give me the new tires. Alternatively, I think you would be on solid grounds to pay for a new set of tires out of your own pocket and then file a small claims action against the dealership for breach of the warranty agreement to recover the cost. I've helped a number of people file small claims actions against dealerships and you would be amazed at how successful they have been. Good luck. IM me if you want to talk more about the latter.

That's more than reasonable! I'd tell the rep to go play a game of "hide & go ***k himself" :mad :mad :smash:

Thanks for the help I really appreciate it. I find it such a shame that you have to go through all this to get warranty repair. By the way these tires have a little over 6000 miles on them, the car has never even been in the rain. The dealer folks are fine with replacing them; it's GM that’s giving the dealer the problem.

Maybe everybody should take a close look at the sidewalls of their F1's.
I still find it very weird that both front and rear right side tires on the Z are defective, what are the odds. Not a mark on them they’re falling apart from the inside. Anyway thanks again I'll keep you posted.

Lee,

Unless you want to buy the tires out of your own pocket, try this.

1) Tell the dealer that you are going to remove the defective tire-wheel assemblies and deliver them to his dealership.

2) Put your Z06 on jack stands and remove the defective assemblies yourself.

3) Drive them to your Corvette dealer and have them remove the tires from the rims. Take the rims home with you.

4) Apply one coat of Zaino each day the Z06 is up on jack stands. You can work off some of your frustration that way.

5) When the dealer gets the new tires from GM, take your rims over to the dealership for mounting of the new tires.

6) Take the new tire-wheel assemblies home and install them on your shiny Z06.

Enjoy your shiny Z06 ride. :mad :mad :banghead: :hurray: :seeya

Read the Goodyear Warranty info in owners manual book--take car to GY for adjustment.

:iagree: I'd do this. No way I'd want my Z sitting at a dealer.

I'd try another dealer.

If you get the same response, then make them get a replacement set of tires on your car FIRST, then they can have the other tires as long as they want. A few observations.

1. If you buy tires out of pocket first, and then try to get them to pay for it, they have no motivation to get you your money back. After all, the problem is "fixed".

2. You are the customer, and they need to make you happy. You need to tell them that their solution doesn't work and you want a different solution. Make them work for it. If the person you are speaking with can't do that, go up the chain to find someone with the authority that can.

3. I don't own a Z, but this is first I've heard of a bulge in the sidewalls of an F1 Supercar tire. Sounds like you have an unusual failure. If that is the case, you have to pursue the resolution JUST THAT MUCH MORE STRONGLY. Otherwise, you'll get swept under the carpet (sad to say).

Good luck dude.
