Re: miles on new zo6???? (hubesredzo6)
New is New! Don't worry about the miles. This is my opinion only... these cars cab be run hard right out of the box (the break-in period is more fiction then anything else). So a few miles does not make any difference in the big picture.
Of interest my Y2K car was a Mueseum Delivery and the car had 30 miles on it at delivery! While the EB Z06 had 10 miles on it at the dealer when I first saw it, and almost 30 miles when I took delivery (where did those 20 miles get used?). Both cars are running strong and not using oil.

Re: miles on new zo6???? (neile)
My Z06 had 27 miles on it when I picked up at the museum last month. Not sure where those extra miles come from. The only problem I've had is only being able to put 24 miles on it since pick up. :cuss :cuss

Not sure how they do it at GM, but at Chrysler every x number of cars gets a short road test to make sure there is nothing hinky developing in the production process.
Your car may have just gotten a few extra quality checks.

I have read on the forum that chevy pulls a certain number of vettes out for additional testing. Mileage on these cars is near your mileage. If you dig around abit I'll bet you can find more detail on this testing.

I bought a new toyota one time didnt like it and brought it back 3 days later with 350 miles on it, and since the title was never transfered the dealer backed out the financing and someone got a "new car" wtih 300+ miles.

My Z06 had 3 miles on it when it was truck delivered it to my house. It also didn't have a full tank of gas, because I didn't want the dealership to drive it.

I just bought one today with 13 miles. The dealership said it had never been test driven, just driven off the truck and into the showroom, where it sat until I came along. (The reason for 13 instead of 8 may be because the dealership is in Washington, and the car likely switched trucks a few times)

3 miles here when I bought it. Wouldn't worry if below 30. When I test drove mine, I was very easy with it because I knew this was the one.

If you go to Bowling Green factory you will see that they don't baby them on the end of the line. Enjoy..........

It was probably beat on with 23 miles of test drives. :steering:
Mine had 8, and I chose it because the other one in the showroom had 52miles and the brake dust was so caked on the front rims that it appeared to be etched into the clearcoat. I tried to wipe it off and it didn't come off. :)
So instead of the Silver one (which I really liked) I paid a little extra for the Millenium Yellow just because it only had the 8 miles. Less test drives.

Once the Corvette hits the surface at the Factory,it is driven to the wheel alignment pit first...then to the Dyno stall where they put it on rollers to take it up to 72+ mph and it runs on that for a few minutes, surely adding the miles.....Once out of there,it is driven to the finesse line for minor adjustments....to the water booth for the drip check....then driven outside to the parking lot......IF it is chosen for an audit drive test....figure to add a few more miles on it...When we picked our 2002 Z06 up at Campbell Chevy in BG...it had 2 miles on the odo....!!! That was on 9/15/01...today it sets in the garage....on carpet, with 6625 miles.....Enjoy!

If the dealer says they did not drive it, then it was most likely put on at the factory. Even if the dealer put on the miles, it's very unlikely that it was abused. They just can't take those risks with expensive cars that they plan to sell.

Re: miles on new zo6???? (Nestor D. White)
When I had bought one of my previous cars, having over 25 miles - I think it had 27 - the insurance company had me take it to one of their "approved inspection locations" so that they could take pictures of it. Apparently they determined that the 25 miles was the threshold for possible damage to a car. FYI.
