I had 15 miles. IMHO, what's more important is how long the car has been sitting on the dealer lot toasting in the sun and rain... Check the driver side door label for the build month. If you want to know the exact build date, you can get it here on the forum too...

My Z was a Museum Delivery. It had 6 miles on it when it left the factory, most of it from the factory final test (on their dyno). When I picked it up at the Museum, it had 36 miles on it. The 30 new miles came from these sources (1) at the Museum, Corvette super-guru's examine the car in minute detail, that exam includes a test drive; (2) any issue these wonderful inspectors discover results in the Corvette being driven back across the highway to the factory for correction. all corrections are followed by another inspection; (3) during the wait for my turn to take museum delivery, the car is moved as little as possible. Even so, it must occasionally be moved from one location to another. Eventually, it must be moved to the museum display floor.

To me, the museum delivery is the one "must have" option for a Corvette. In addition to being a totally awesome and most excellent experience, there are specific advantages to the process. In terms of the miles on the odometer at delivery, I know they were not put there by dealer employees or friends cutting donuts in the parking lot (now a sport called driftiing).

I suspect that there are many dealerships that have little or no integrity and honesty. However, I think that most dealerships exercise more care with their inventory and that their Corvettes accumulate starting miles from the same kind activities that bumped mine from 6 to 36.

powermad.........if nothing has changed.......Cave City Chevrolet which is located North on I-65...does the premuseum delivery inspections and at times,it is fact...the Corvette is driven to the Museum after that happens...thus,the 30+ miles being on your Corvette......

My '04 Z had 11 miles on it. My '02 Coupe, also purchased new, had 24.

My Z had 131 miles on it when I first bought it - brand new.

My car was a very early build 2002 - and it was in a car show - so they had to drive it to the show and back - and it was a bout 50 miles or so each way.

My car has over 26k miles on it - no oils use, and it runs great.

My opinion - why worry over a few miles?

I had 6mi on the odo when i got mine. i know some people had to drive it at the dealership cuz they all usualy come with 03mi on them. at least i know all the people in the back so i kinda know who drove my baby.. :conehead

3 miles on mine. Not sure what to think about all the comments from members. My dealer let me test drive the car with the salesman riding along. I put a couple of miles on it. I'm very careful for the first 500 miles. I don't see how that can hurt anything. Is it necessary? Good question.

There was only 4 miles on mine. The mileage is only short lived anyway. I drove mine over 300 mile to get it home. Now I have 2,800 miles in only 3 monthes.
