Basically, the Viper guys do not believe that a stock Z06 will run in the 11's. I know that I have seen some members of this forum run in the 11's with nothing more than a filter.

So, has anyone run in the 11's with nothing more than a filter?

I am trying to put together another Vette vs. Viper shootout and I am just curious. I maintain that a race between the Z06 and the Viper will be determined by the driver. :auto:

MAny have tried, to my knowledge/recollection onlly J-Rod did it bone stock. Ranger did it stock but on drag radials. There may be others, and my facts may be wrong.

I have raced MANY Vipers and have yet to lose. However I am running about 30+ extra RWHP over stock and I have done my share of drag racing. By best is in my signature, but on stock tires it takes a perfect run on a well prepped track, and still VERY hard to do stock, nearly impossible.

I have seen bone stock Vipers (pre-2002) run low 12's to low 13's. Stock Z06's with good drivers run 12.5 - low 13's, so I agree with you, it will come down to the driver.

Im shootin for 11.80's-11.90's with the way the car sits 'AS IS" in the sig. times in the sig were done at approx +1400 DA

Agree - hell I'm shooting for 11's - doesn't mean I will make it (especially on stock tires) :) :)

BTW a Vararam and Drag Radials don't qualify you as stock either, which was the other half of the equation.

I have a Breathless Vortex air box, drag radials and a Hurst shifter.

My best is 11.79, Many runs in the 11.80's and 11.90's.

I don't remember the link, but Ranger posted a video of he and I racing at MIR. He ran 11.72 and I ran 11.93, as I remeber. Ranger has a Haltec Trick intake and Drag Radials. He uses the stock shifter. Rangers best is 11.55 with this setup.

I know Powershifter ran an 11.9x in his 2001 Z06 with only a TB-bypass and K&N filter. There are a few guys that have cracked 11s on stock Z06's. All it takes is a complete disregard for your clutch and transmission :lol:

Dad's bone stock GTS with a 2.00 60' =12.15@119, my bone stock Z06 with a 2.05 60' =12.42@115. Same driver in both cars on tires they were born with at 22 psi. The 12.42 was with less than 800' corrected altitude.

Those numbers are close enough that the best driver on any particular race will win. Also, it is important to realize that the two cars must be driven differently to be successful. There is NO question that the Z must be driven into the higher RPM's and kept there. While the Viper has enough low-end torque to make up for shifting at the wrong time.

on the slick piece of crap 1/8th mile we have the viper didn't care weather i shifted at 5k or 6K, wasn't gonna run quicker than 8.teens, so yes the viper is a lazy mans hot rod. Both of the runs talked about earlier were the best each car has run at ennis. Viper got about 4 runs, corvette got about 8. At ennis the 1/8th mile times were 7.97@94.1 in the viper to an 8.13@92.3 for the corvette. I'm really surprised that the corvette had such high mph in the 1/8th with only running a 12.42. But as far as the 11's go, i'm a solid two tenths off in the 60' for the corvette to have a chance. Those were the only two times either car has been down a 1/4 mile strip; and the first time the corvette had been down a strip at all.

I think J-Rod is the only person to run a true bonestock 11 sec pass. Ranger and Powershifter had mods similair to mine (air intake and DRs). My best "showroom stock" was 12.10.

From what I've read and seen, J-Rod is the undisputed champ drag racer of the "stock" or "near stock" Z06s.

When my 2001 was stock with a BBP Vortex....I went 12.02 @118 and 12.06 @ 119....back to back


For those that say they were on stock tires.....I used to think that was a big deal, but the stock F1's are like drag radials. My times were on stock tires as well.

On slicks with only the edition of mufflers and airbox I went 11.7 @ 119.

Well I never made it into the 11's stock, although i think I maybe could have pulled off an 11.9 or so. I was able to get a 12.3 with very little time in the car- only the 5th time down the track in car- and only had it for 2 months- only had 2k miles on the car. Now I have mods so no way of knowing- but I am hoping to be in the 11's with the intake, borlas, hurst, and 178 tstat.

Very few folks have broken into the 11s bone-stock. It takes getting everything right in the same run and very favorable air. J-Rod and "02 Z06-Racer" are among the few.

Of the folks that have done it, I doubt anyone has done it twice. It's that difficult.

When the "criteria" are changed to (1) an air intake and (2) drag radials...then a bunch of folks have done that. The improved traction on launch and the shifts makes a significant difference.

My best times in the 01 and 02 bone stock and with (1) and (2) are in my signature.

01 with a Halltech Tric and drag radials: 11.94
02 with a Halltech Tric and drag radials: 11.55 and about 75 runs in the 11.7s or better.
