Precision Racing Orgainization in Houston Friday - Sunday; GO TO IT!
NON – SCCA autocross in Houston last weekend and again this weekend. There will be national championship level instructors and Evolution school trainers out, with a very professional set up.
Held at Gulf Greyhound Park on I-45.
Wow. Not your usual autocross. Can't say enough about how fun this event was (and not just
because of the way it worked out!).
This is the best points/overall challenge type system I have
seen yet.
Grid and run organization were fantastic. Usual 2 driver advantages are
minimized substantially (as far as possible). Basically, each driver
has their 2 runs within 1 to 3 minutes of each other, and then a pretty
long
wait, 2 driver or no. Essentially real time active event results.
Runs per dollar are better than any other event I have been to. Friday
Free practice all you want, Saturday and Sunday 6 runs for everyone, then 2 more for top 75, 2 more top 25 and 2 more
for the top 10.
Course was fantastic – very fast.
Atmosphere and enthusiasm were perfect, and even the bad weather could
not put a damper on it. High tech setup with real time satellite feed, timing and results, the works.
Don't forget $ payout back to the top 25 on up.
I will travel for these events, you really can't have much more fun in
the sport.
Anyone who can make it out absolutely, positively should go. Just show up Friday or Saturday morning.
The format is awesome, the people that ran the event were top notch (not
snooty, or rude in any way, very down to earth)
This is an alternative to SCCA; they WILL listen to your ideas of what autocrossing should be about!
Everyone ought to think about having a road trip down here for next
weekend's event.
