Default 2004 Z06 Commemorative Edition

I tried searching the forum and couldn’t find an answer to my question.
Everything on the RPO list in the glovebox checks out as what’s on this vehicle.
The only thing that I can’t figure out is why the interior colors are black/red with Z06 stitched on the headrest.

On the window sticker:

Colors: LeMans Blue Metallic (19U) / Black/Torch Red
Thanks for any help you can provide.

Someone likely changed the seats.

Z16 should have Black Interior and Black Seats with special commemorative embroidered headrest.

So problem with more then the seats as your pic shows RED on Doors and Instrument Panel as well.

Very odd someone would have changed.

I assume you have the Exterior Stripes, Carbon Fiber Hoods and Special Z06 Rims?

Yup. One of the previous owners wanted red interior instead so they swapped it out. How many owners? Is it possible you can backtrack to the one that did it to see if they have the original seats and pads?

I'd be willing to bet you could find someone with a black interior to trade for red plus some cash on their part. Mod red is sought after.

Yes...may find Black Z06 seats and interior.....but hard to find someone now with the Black Z16 Commemorative Seats w/ Embroidery which you really need to return to stock.

It has the Exterior Stripes, Carbon Fiber Hoods and Special Z06 Rims.
VIN # is listed as # 1005 on Z06 Commemorative edition list.
All of the RPO codes listed match this C5
Two owner car as per the CarFax.

Well looks like your all set with exception of original Z16 interior.

I assume this did not matter when you made the purchase , so just enjoy.

Again, you could probably find someone to trade your Red/Black to Black Z06 parts with exception of issue trying to find original Black Z16 seats.

I haven't purchased this vehicle yet.
That's why I wanted to ask some questions before I commited myself on a purchase.
Lots of great knowledge on these forums.

Ok , did not know that was the situation.

If they are charging more due to Z16 then you will need to deduct as to get back to stock Z16 condition will require some time and money.

Also, I might add as I have owned a Z16....realize that if you ever have any damage to the Stripe Decals , they are no longer available for purchase which was always an item of concern I had when owning one.

But I love the Lemans Blue Color!

So what does the “black/torch red” on the sticker mean?

What are your plans for the car? Track days are great.

That window sticker is made up by the selling dealer with the colors that the car currently has. They just don't know or if they know want to disclose the red interior doesn't belong. Get a reproduction sticker from the Corvette museum.

I would buy it and swap interiors then be on the look out for seat covers.
start a thread on here want to buy z16 seat covers. I bet someone has them stashed away. You can also get an idea of what people are asking for then to negotiate better and if you get no offers then take a lot off the price because you'll be waiting a while for a set to become for sale.

6,000 mile Z16 owner here. FYI, Top Flight Automotive makes the Z16 seat covers. You absolutely need to deduct for the car not having the factory Z16 interior, but as stated, you could get decent money for the Mod Red stuff.

That is the only thing wrong with owning a limited edition car like this. The stripes will be tough to find originals. If someone has front end damage, the hood will be the most difficult to find. Good thing I have a original spare hood off a low mile Z16.

Maybe it's just me, and maybe it would reduce originality, but if these stick on stripes that GM seems to love installing for decades now, are no longer available, I'd find a damn good painter to paint them on! Then shoot enough clear over them so you couldn't feel them running your finger over them. Original? Not exactly, but far better quality, longer lasting, and the way it should've been done to start with to honor such a great car!!!
