I've seen the install video on vetonvettes channel. Too much hacking into oem wiring for my taste.

I'm old, so no. Had push button start in my original Mini (Austin, not BMW), and my '59 GMC, and others. Don't see the point. Remote start, perhaps, though don't see that as possible with a three pedal car.

If you want to do something cool with your key, try the flip key mod it's great

Had push button start on my ‘02 S2000 and liked it. If a plug and play option comes on the market for the C5 I would be interested. Hacking into the wiring under the dash to do it now is a definite no.

Was thinking about this the other day when I swapped Fob batteries. Any link or video tutorial on the mod, supplier, and work involved? Is it simply just swapping the key into the new Fob and then programming it?

Thanks guys ...so what l see is some they like it and some not .... but we know already that all modern cars comes with push start that means if you like it or no you going to have it sooner or later ..the big benefit with push start that don't need to worry about ignition or cylinder lock key or even the key itself or security code which gives you a lot of headache .. the other guys they mention about the flip key for me it's bad idea and l will never do that because the flip key are going to be very close to my knees and one day lwill kick the key and possible l will break the ignition key ... It's either way I'm still in the middle

the cars we have that have push button start is something you deal with, (not something I would add). what I don't like is you always have to have the fob with you, you can't even open a door without it, (I realize your just adding the start button) then there is the warning" no fob present ) and it's in your pocket !!

Like any other system it's only as good as the person or persons who designed it. The first GM systems had microswitches and antennas in the door handles that could fail and there was a time delay between lifting the door handle and when the door latch actuated. Most aftermarket systems use contact relays instead of solid state relays which have no contacts to wear out. There was a detailed write up not too long ago of how someone installed an aftermarket system in a C5, it should be in the archives.

you don't need the fob key with you anymore because it's going to add resister to bypass the security code
