Default Best Overall Oil Filter By Retired Canadians

As we all know things can change so I looked at some studies and it seems the results favor the Wix XP as the top performer overall. There are a couple of brands focused on certain characteristics like micron sized filtration and flow rating but the Wix was the highest overall performer.

But; if you dive into who really owns or controls Wix it gets kind of interesting.

If you follow the chain of command; Does this mean a bunch of retired Municipal workers from Toronto are in charge of making the filters?

Turns out it was Dana that sold Wix to Cypress (Affinia was the Title Name )who were investment capitalists that lost a ton of value who dumped Wix for sale to Mann Hummel not the retired Canadians afterall. Some German Falkers

Wix Filter have been for many years considered "by engineering firms and those on the hunt" as the strongest filter manufactured to date in the United States... but we know what's important in the manufacturers "keep it cheap" form of GM thinking...... Your impressive research has been undeniable overlooked by General Motors as usual. 😏

NAPA Gold are Wix filters. Even the numbering system is almost the same. Ever since I found that out, I have bought NAPA Gold filters.

In reality, there are only a very few filter makers, with Fram being the big player. They also make a lot of the auto companies' own brand filters.

I will not dispute that Wix filters are very good. I use the AC Delco filter for my cars. Haven’t had any oil related problems with them.

K&n because they have the nut on the top for easy torqueing and removal.

per the BITOG forums, K&N is just a Fram with a nut welded on top.

The "Best" has always been the discontinued AC Delco UPF-44, still available at times on eBay.

Back in '01, right after I bought my C-5, and joined the gang here at CF, Fichtner (spelling?) Chevrolet was a Forum Sponsor, and ran a lot of "specials" out of their parts department. These filters were one of the items that they ran specials on, in case lots of 12 filters. I bought a case of them, and had I known that they'd eventually be discontinued, I would have bought a second case.........

As far as I can tell (per posts on Bob the oil guy)l, AC Delco filters are made by Champion. Apparently, they used to be made by Wix, but I guess Champion gave them a better deal.

Ha on my '67 pickup (don't wanna use the F word here) I still use a Fram cannister with a toilet paper roll as the filter. It gets changed after the 2000th flush. Really does anyone remember this setup? Cheers!!!

Yep, my bad my brain and my fingers were out of sync. Yes, it is definitely Frantz. That video is crazy man. Nice production but hopefully is clean and sober else some fingers or hands get damaged.

Derek of ViceGripGarage on YouTube prefers Wix, so that's the fact Jack.
