Default Battery issue

When I wash my ‘03 and just stick back in the garage the battery dies. If I wash it and go on a short trip everything is ok. Shorting somet, does anyone else have this issue?

How old is your battery? Perhaps it is going bad or you have a draw on it that should not be present.

I had 3 C5s but did not have a problem like you are experiencing.

No. The battery is new. it only happens when I wash and store. Driving after washing must dry what ever contact point is getting wet. Thanks for the reply.

Does your hood remain closed when washing it?

Check your udders. They could be clogged and allowing water onto the bcm

Even being a new battery you might still have an issue. How much is the vehicle driven? If you don’t drive it often then it’s possible that the load of starting it twice without giving the charging system ample time to charge up the battery could be a culprit.

The other advice given is good. You might want to open the hood after you are done, and see if anything is wet. However, this doesn't make sense to me. If driving the car is drying whatever the issue is, then letting the car sit afterwards should ALSO let whatever the issue is dry on its own. As long as it has dried by the time you try to start the car, there should be no difference between if you drive it afterwards or if you just park it. As such, I think that dbgoodwin may be onto something. I don't think that it is a short that is being dried out. I think it is the fact that driving it actually charges the battery, and not driving it doesn't. I bet if you start storing the car on a trickle charger, you will stop having this issue completely.
