Thanks for the info, I called them yesterday and waiting for a return call. Ideally, I would like their shifter and honker intake, let's see what they say. I think they do installs at the CT location as well...
it's odd that callaway has 4 specific versions of this shifter between the the c5-c7 generations when the c6/c7 OEM shifter is compatible between all c5 thru c7 years
Truly, I imagine the only tangible difference would be the shifter's bar itself. C5 would be threaded (and therefore adjustable mounting height for whatever handle you install), while all C6 and C7 would have the single cross-bolt at the bottom.
While early C6s had the T56 and later had the 6060 and then the C7s had the 6070, I am unaware of any difference to be noted in the shifter dimensions, mounts or the way it secures to or interacts with the various tubs. Moreso than learning of any such difference, I would be curious to hear an engineering reason as to why the models are differentiated. Just because I have seen so many doesn't make me an expert. Just like *****, there are always more to see!
Tempting. Maybe in a few weeks. I'm blowing through cash right now like a kid in a toy store. Mamo heads. AP brakes. C7Z brakes. New gear for work. I'm a frugal swamp yankee who is actually making a profit as I wheel and deal here (which is more by luck and chance) but won't be realized until I can actually sell all the other parts they are replacing. There is too much overhead in inventory right now. lol.
Unlike MGW which would sell six minutes after posting one for sale, I am less inclined to buy a $500 shifter to sell for....$300? Mayyyyybe $400 if I try it and find insufficient variance in function compared against that of my preferred MGW or my second-fave BPP? Callaway does command a known name though. So it would sell fairly. Their brand name is better associated with engine upgrades and vehicle packages than with an individual shifter.
But dang.... you know I'm going to grab one to try soon!
Got the Callaway Shifter installed this evening, does anyone know if this rubber boot/insulator is supposed to be re-installed with the new shifter? The instructions weren't too clear on this. CC: @njpete19@Info@CallawayCars
Yes you reuse the cover. Absolutely. Unless you want a reeeeally loud interior. If the base of the shifter is too wide then you need to carefully cut it to fit/allow the shifter. Less cutting is more as it will give you a positive seal around that shifter base. If you cut too much you can use your preferred sealant. I have recently used orgavyl which is not perfect because it doesn't like TT tunnel heat, but does seal well to the boot.
