When you get to about 1/4 tank add the Techron and fill it the rest of the way

After the left tank is full the turbulence of adding more fuel keeps mixing with what's in left tank already and spills over to the right tank via the cross over tube

drive the car until you have 1/4 tank of gas. Go to the gas station. Dump in the Techron. Fill your gas tank.

IMO, if you use one of the Top Tier rated fuels, addition of Techron is unnecessary. The Top Tier rated gasolines already have additional fuel additives provided by Techron. Many manufacturers "recommend'" the usage of Top Tier rated gasolines, the Genesis G80 I previously owned required the usage of Top Tier fuels in order to satisfy the manufacturer's warranty requirements.

Just my opinion, based upon a bit of review of the development history of the Top Tier certification.

I usually wait until my tank is close to empty, but a 1/4 tank will certainly do. Techron certainly works. I use a bottle or 2 per year.

Yes, if you know you have enough fuel to get to the station, then the less remaining fuel, the better. I try to get within 30-50 miles of "E" before I fill. Just have to make sure the Techron bottle is big enough that it'll treat 17-18 gallons of fuel, otherwise use the 1/4 tank method. I'm done buying the stuff. It works good, but new senders are $45-$50 per side. I've spent more than that on Techron. Time for new senders..

I would think if one drove to 1/4 tank, which would be all gas in the left tank, then put in half a bottle of Techron, followed by 6 gallons of gas, the left tank would now be a combination of fresh fuel and Techron. Adding additional Techron at this point would transfer over to the right hand tank, followed by the next 8 or so gallons of fresh gas would result in both tanks being a good combination.

And here I was going to recommend putting your car on it's side to gas up. (Yes, I'm kidding)

Rockauto has been selling the actual GM unit for years. It works in either side. They are literally like 47 dollars.

You better find a new shop and or learn how to work on this car yourself.

Just my opinion. If you are already experiencing fuel indication problems Techron will do nothing at all or just be a band aid. I wasted a few dollars trying this snake oil only to be disappointed.

The fix was fixing it properly.

Dropping both tanks from a 2004 isn't a straightforward task. Your statement is ludicrous. Literally. You can't bend time.

I'll go with the recommendation from Chevrolet.
