you can argue desirability all you want, but not rarity. They are also desirable though, just maybe not by you. I posted this photo in the FS section trying to give away this shift ****, and got this response back almost immediately. I’ve gotten similar responses when I posted my motorcycle for sale, and when I posted my old truck for sale.

well there were over 4000 blue c5z’s made. You’re really not using that word “rare” properly. A white c5z is rare. Roughly 1% of c5z’s were white.

Im happy you have a car that you consider rare. Seems like you are enjoying it!

White C5Zs are rare/scarce based on low production numbers, regardless of the reason. Now, many years later, the white has become desirable, probably due to the rarity.
Anyway, my use of the word "unicorn" was based on a for sale thread in that section where someone is selling a much lower mileage version for $39k+: "Unicorn for sale" or some such. I thought it was fitting.

Atleast go check it out and see what you think. If you like it, offer him $19k. I must admit, there's something about a white Z06 that's just beautiful. Really accents the body lines and is so dang clean. My favorite color is blue and I'm a sucker for EB, but this white on this model is just gorgeous!! Throw in ModRed interior and it all just matches perfect!!!

No, probably not in white 😀…. Just thinking if you can live with another color like black, silver, blue, etc, you will not only get a better car, but also have a much wider selection. I really wanted a black car, but I found the right silver car.
Good hunting!

Pretty sure I have seen this same one on Facebook market place, down in Cinci right? Personally it looks a little ragged out. Reason I say that, high miles, mods, pictures show a drag pack, not original owner and a younger guy. I would check to see if this owner did all the mods or purchased it like this, ran it rough and is now selling. Could be a great car, who knows.

That is slightly less than twice what I paid for my M6 2004 coupe in early 2021, that was in pristine condition with 26,000 miles.
I like the Z, but don’t see the value for that era. Maybe since I’m 68 yo, I’m not in the collector mindset. Since I’ve heavily sound deadened/heat shielded the car, added gears, and will shortly add a Z cam on steroids, my personal comfort and power potential meets all my needs.
Still, I get the draw of the Z’s mystique. Something about the reputation of that car…

130k isn’t what I’d consider high mileage for a car that’s 22 years old. That’s literally 5900 miles a year. If the car was maintained I wouldn’t be concerned. At least it’s been driven and shouldn’t have dry rotted rubbers and seals. It’s also not a stock car so it’s “rarity” shouldn’t add anything to the price unless the owner has all the stock parts. I personally wouldn’t pay a premium for a color or a Z06. I prefer the looks of the coupe and I’m a modder. It doesn’t take much to get the same performance from a coupe vs a Z. Save money on the car and buy high quality performance parts.

Here is my take - I would not pay that much for a 130K mile C5, rare color Z06 or not. JMO.

Consider this... The seller is a C5 fan, he loves his car, it's been his partner on the road and in the garage, he reads Corvette Forum daily, the car's been seen as perfect, he's Knows it's perfect! .. and along comes CF readers putting his car down... and for being a C5 worth apinioniser? .. We're All a bit that way aren't we... Tsk tsk tsk. 😒

I saw that car listing too - I sent it to two friends looking to buy and one went up to look at it last week. He chickened out unfortunately but said it was in great shape. Looks like the ad is gone - did you pick it up?
