Where do you want your power to hit?
That cam should work better than what you
have now, but it’s still a big cam with
the inherent trade off of shifting the power
band up.

25-TSPTQRV4 Texas Speed Torquer V4 231/234 .629/615 Camshaft (texas-speed.com)

Looking at this cam from their website, it looks like it will be a better fit. What I noticed is their description about the aggressive grind on the intake lobe.

I am no camshaft expert, but I have read that bigger cams with wider lsa's have lower vacuum at lower rpms. That's why they stall and chop and buck like crazy. They're designed for WOT operation and straight line speed and power. The problem, trade off, is that at partial throttle and tip in, they are slower to respond at those lower rpms. This is why people then go with the higher gears ratios.

At the end of the day, it's never really about what are your dyno numbers, it's about how do I get the best performance for the way I drive the car?

I would like the power to come on earlier. The old cam i could pull pretty hard from 3200ish? I understand gears would help, but with install and everything your looking at just north of $3000? Then if I do FI I've read you don't want gears. I want a street light to street light cam, lol. So many damn people in Colorado now a days. I don't think I've been able to run anyone more than 2 shifts, maybe 3?

I can say for sure that Tony would understand the torque thing. He's a proponent of 22X cams with ported aftermarket castings that pull 450whp in a 346 with, as he puts it, rip your face off torque. Of course he can make a 346 put down 500 wheel with a donkey dick cam. I will be pursuing the former with his parts recommendations.

Update.... Tony designed a cam for my car and what I'm looking for out of the car. Cam should be here next week, then I'll have it installed, dyno and tuned. I'l let you guys know the results. Fingers crossed 🤞. Thanks

Im having gears done for $2400. That’s parts, labor, tax. FWIW. Ideal for a couple shifts with a midrange cam.

Looking forward to finding out about your new cam. Specs?
