Where is a good place to drive my C5?
I’m in Phoenix area and my C5 vert has been barely driven for a long time due to family issues etc.
June 2019 bought new tires because old tires were old, wow half way through life span and just sitting.
Prefer to escape the Phoenix heat and will most likely be going alone.
I know gas prices are high but maybe it won’t be too horrible.
Any suggestions?

Take a good run up 87 (Beeline Highway) to Payson. Good twisty-turnys and nice scenery. If you've got time continue over to Show Low, down through Salt River Canyon to Globe then return to the Valley. Of course check for construction delays, anticipate motor home conga lines and use your good judgment in the MPH department, DPS is always watching!

If you want to escape the heat you're in the wrong state lol.
Its a long drive but if that's what you're looking for take the 8 west towards San Diego, lots of open road through the desert and then you can burn around around empty back roads near the lower colorado river (winterhaven area). Or even continue on the 8 west until you hit the mountain passes & the laguna/cuyamaca mountains - lots of curvy mountain roads through the forest.

I just drove from Holbrook to Scottsdale last week. From Heber on down it was absolutely beautiful. I wish I'd have had more time to explore but was in a rush. I will definitely go back some time.

Long Drive, but everyone needs to do Tail of The Dragon and the surrounding roads in North Carolina/ Tennessee at least once in there life. If you can find one, a motorcycle map by Wild Rides used to be available at the rest stops in that area and it lays out the great roads. Best of luck and have fun. Also remember if you go in the fall you need a leaf screen up front.

Go up to Cottonwood then Sedona then to Pulliam Airport... Stop say HI to the FBI.. Get back on 17 and home.

I took a nice long drive from Mesa last month. Wound up in Tennessee and never went back. Love it here. My suggestion is get as high in altitude as you can, not the drug kind, it's way cooler air up there. Have fun and report back on what you do.

There are but most of them are like this. Not the most fun for a C5 unless you just want to do a high speed blast. There are some nice twisties up here in northern NV where I live but it's quite a haul from Phoenix (700 miles or so).

Nah, too much slow moving traffic to and from the canyon. Plus the canyon is a bit underwhelming.
If it were me...I would head north through NM, Colorado and Wyoming straight to the Black Hills of South Dakota. Hit Devil's Tower, Mount Rushmore, Crazy Horse Memorial, Deadwood and the Badlands.
I was out in Wyoming and South Dakota a few years back. In a Chrysler 300 rental car. Only thing missing from my amazing road trip was the vette.

I wouldn't worry too much about gas costs. Yeah, they are certainly crazy now but my C5 does pretty well on gas unless I'm really driving hard. If you are just doing short day trips it won't cost much more.
