Best Shocks for car lowered on factory bolts?
Good Morning All,
I am thinking about lowering my 02 coupe on its factory bolts. Originally, I was thinking coil overs, but that may not be in the budget right now. My main objective is to cut the fender gap from the top of the tire. I have read that a shock replacement should be included in the upgrade, plus mine are 20 years old. I have been reading a lot that the Bilstein B8's seem to be the choice to go with. What are some other shock choices out there that will suit my needs? The car is NOT raced, or auto crossed. Most miles are daily and backroads driving. Here is a pic of the car for reference of the fender gaps. It has an 18/19 set up.

I went with the C6 Z06 shocks. Improvement over the C5 original shocks. At the same time, I put on the C6 Z51 sway bars.

Bilstein Sport….Shorter than stock and works great on stock bolt lower mod. But…….after lowering, your next drive must be to the alignment shop or your REAR tires will be toast in 600 miles……..I have been using this set up since 2003 when I did the deed after owning her from new.

This is what I did for the set-up on my 04 stick vert. Street and no tracking in the selection of parts. Keep in mind that suspension geometry/ratios must be kept relatively proportionate to spec in order to prevent understeer/oversteer concerns.
I assembled the following for my car and it handles extremely well for a Vert:
C6 Z51 front spring
C5 Z51 rear spring
C5 Z06 front sway bar
C6 Z51 rear sway bar
C6 Z06 shocks
Poly bushings
Metal end links (if not already equipped)
I sourced the springs, and sways used. The end links were new.
