Where did I put my Car
Fun story Where did I put my car?
Ok yesterday I contacted the place I though I stored my 2002 C5 at. I found an old text message to the storage place that I messaged last November and sent another test yesterday asking when do I have to get the car out. The guy called me back and said he recalled my messages last November and a phone call we had. Ok awesome……..but he said “you never showed up with your corvette”. I said yes I did I drove it into the tan building with the craft store out front…………His reply “that’s not my building” in my head I am yelling WHAT!!!!! He told me the two green buildings next door are his not the brown one.
So here is what happened.
I get to the big green buildings and no one was around. My wife parked at the tan building (with the craft shop in the front) that shares a driveway with the two green buildings. I drove over to where my wife was parked and this guy is waving me over to the other side of the tan building. In my head, I say OK and drive over to waving man. He tells me to let him get two other cars parked that are waiting to go into storage in the building then (Big old Lincoln and a red C4) it will be my turn. I drive my car in, park remove the battery, put dryer sheets all over and he helps me cover the car. I paid and got a receipt and said “I did not know this was a heated storage place” the man said yes that’s why it is so hard to get in and at only 300 dollars we are the best price in town.
I went home happy thinking wow heated storage but wondering where are all the boats I thought this was marine storage place.
Well I actually stored it at “Toy Storage” next door to the marine storage place for 200 less.
After figuring out where my car was I called Toy Storage and talked as if I knew my car was with them the whole time. The owner was very nice and told me most folks start picking up their cars in April. I said ok see you then.
300 for heated storage I think I will pay for next year this April.

Had me thinking about the Seinfeld episode with Jiffy Park.

Glad OP found his car. This short story is a bit off topic, but it's similar, true, and I thought it was hilarious. I once worked with 2 ex-cons, a safe cracker, and an armed robber. Both reformed, and older than me. Sadly, they were both alcoholics. One night they just happened to meet at a bar. One got the brilliant idea to go bar hopping, and to save gas, they left the other car at the bar. They ended up going over 100 miles away from the first bar, totally hammered. Got a motel, and the next day they couldn't remember where they left the other car!!! Took them most of that week to find it!! True story, so help me God!!!

I'd bet for a moment there was some anxiety on your part about the location of your car. Glad everything worked out and now it's just a short period of time before you get behind the wheel again.

I wanted to go there just to make the sure the the Craft store did not become a Auto Parts store over the winter.
I am planning on going after my car around the middle of April.

Safety Car
another benefit you can score to the grace of country living. In the big city, nobody has the time, and there are so many storage places that it would be difficult to find the mistake, and you would naturally assume the car was stolen by the garage. Without paperwork , I can't think of any solutions available, and I would probably be walking around with a lot of hard feelings. I live in a crowded area, and I enjoy the advantages it provides, but also know what's up.

Glad everything worked out. Good selling point for a location device to be in vehicle while in storage. Eazy peezy to locate on Google for just pennies a month for 4 months or whatever time period. Cheers!!

Next morning I go back to get my car. The parking ticket was generic and didn't have an address or lot name on it. Went to 4 lots before one of the attendants told me the location of the lot with the green tickets. Car was lost for 3+ hours.
That had to be one OH SH*T moment for the OP.

I did something similar when I lived in Los Angeles circa 2002. 27th birthday. Parked my vette at a lot on Sunset, met up with friends, got hammered, met a girl, took a cab back to her place.
