I do have health insurance. However, I have a deductible, and a coinsurance. Plus a $60.00 copay every time I walk through the door. The real cost is all the tests and scans and procedures he keeps sending me for. I'll likely need open heart in the not too distant future, so $$$.

Haha I did actually. I am pretty sure I have the cheapest running and driving C5 ever sold. Total with tax and a new license plate (which is an annoyingly large expense here in Florida) was $3,730.96. It will be three years ago in just a few days.

And, yeah, I was another who thought the hood would go higher; told my wife over the weekend that it would hit $5,000.

That sucks...
Prayers for your future surgery
Here"s a thought...maybe you could sneak over to Mexico and change your name to Senor Monty Alonso Sotomayor then illegally cross back into the US as an illegal with a fake id and get free everything...that's what's happening now anyway... Mfkers....
Then....buy an MCM hood

Thanks to everyone who helped with this thread and bids on the hood. As many of you know i bought the MCM Company out 7 years ago. We have the molds in house and i have tried to find a company who could produce the hoods for me. I have had no success as most companies wanted to send the molds to China and i was in no way going to do that. I wanted a company that was close enough i could drop in and have some control over production and of course quality. You know the old saying if you want something done right do it yourself? Well i made the decision this week to produce the hoods in house. Yes we will be offering the hoods for sale in the very near future and we are super excited to finally get the hoods back into production.. I will be announcing more details here on the forum in the coming weeks.

Yes Sir Lewis we are going to make it happen!
My supplier is putting together our first quote for all materials needed. I will have cost narrowed down next week.
We will be offering a group buy on 15 hoods at a discounted rate. I will have numbers next week.

That's the thing with that bidding war, ya just never know how far you missed the target until someone has some info. If I hadn't been working on getting a new bumper cover then I'd have probably bid once more. I was pushing my limit pretty hard with what I did bid. I'm not disappointed to speak of because like you said, I'll see what Marc can come up with and get the high-rise one that I really want and hope it fits just as good. Maybe the backup one will work out too....

We will be buiding all versions. I have all 4 molds.
The material cost is going to be expensive. My vendor failed to get the quote out to me today. They were $2000 10 years ago. Materials have increased along with inflation so we will be well above the $2k.
Done deal, your in due to you were a bidder. The other spots will be done via a lottery and will post a thread for the remaining spots.
You can rest assured they are going to be of the highest quality or we will not produce them. Period. No half *** hood will ever be sold under the MCM name!

Marc,
Any chance you could offer a painted option for these hoods?
Specifically I'm looking to have it painted torch red with the center exposed like this

Marc, if you offer the hood the same with the carbon fiber center, I would seriously consider switching mine out.
