I’ve owned many corvettes over the tears. I owned a 98 roadster, which I bought with very low miles in 1999. Six speed . Loved the car. Traded for a loaded 2010 roadster, auto. Nice car, loaded, but I missed shifting the gears. Sold earlier this year with plans of getting into a C-7. Well life interfered. Daughter had some medical expenses which I needed to pay. Now I’m back to a C-5 budget. I need the acquire the fault codes using the dic and any other suggestions. I used to have all his info but disposed of it a while back, never thought I would need it. thanks for any suggestions and information. I’ve been out f the loop for a while.

Good luck with your search. It’s amazing how many low mileage C5’s that still pop up from time to time here.
Hopefully this dreaded virus will subside and the supply chain and new and used car market prices will begin stabilizing soon.

I feel very lucky to have fallen into the right kind of Vette for me. Like many have said before, this car is aging very well, both from a visual perspective, but also in how you can upgrade it to keep up with a more modern Vette simply by using the next generations parts and bolting them on. I mean, the C6 brake upgrade is literally nothing to install, just bolt it on. And because it's in the LS family, it's fairly simple to fit almost anything under the hood from the original motor to 2000 horsepower craziness. Anyway, nice choice and difficult to regret making

I've been very fortunate.
Began with a C5 2004 Z06. Then a C6 2008 Z06, aka "Valve eater". Then a C6 2013 Z06, aka "Valve eater". Then a C6 2013 ZR1. Then a C7 2016 Z06, Pos transmission. Then another C7 Z06 and another Pos transmission. Then a 2017 ZL1, "Oil pump eater". Then finally a 2017 Z07. Now, a 2003 Z06 with 17,000 miles. No issue's, easy to repair, taxes are much lower, insurance is better, etc. All in all it's a car we can own without destroying a retirement account. And if I decide to let it sit for a while, it doesn't bother me at all. I still have it. The other's were so expensive, I just let them sit and waxed them mostly. I felt like each weekend, I opened the shop door, burned about $500 in depreciation and then went back in the house. Just an example, the ZR1 and the Z07 had carbon ceramic brakes. Pads $500.00 per set. One rotor is close to $5k. Front splitter is $1,600 and $350 for the level III winglets. Don't ask how I know. I enjoyed the cars but was terrified to drive them. I love the C5 and the raw power and I will drive it!

Bingo! I just bought an 04 Z06 today and it's a treasure. It's a small investment vs. the fun factor. I can still work on it for a reasonable price and I'm with you, I'll be content with it looking good in my garage. I'll do whatever I please with this car vs. a more expensive car where I'd be hesitant to road race it. That means more fun!
