BB bullets and convertible
I'm bored...the car 1999 vert 6 spd doesn't do it for me anymore, well, a little..it is better with the new MGW shifter. But now I'm researching exhaust. I have ..I think a BB Rt 66. Its ok but a little quiet. I'm wondering if the Bullet will be too loud. Also looking at the Borla ATAK but its 300 bucks more. Anyone have these on a vert. I don't drive with the top up much at all. And I have no neighbors to hate me..with the top up a massive drone will be a problem..would rather hear the new stereo.

I have the bullets with headers and high flow cats. It’s loud, not as loud as the slp strait pipes, but probably not for you. Maybe adding headers and a tune with your prts would work.

If you enjoy listening to your stereo, I'd say the bullets won't make you happy.
As to the convertible aspect, I can't comment.
I love the sound of my B&B bullets on the outside of the car, but they are also loud inside, all of the time.
I recently switched to Borla ATAK and I am very happy. I think I would be even happier it I had a Vert because I enjoy driving with the windows down to hear it more. (Now, all of the sound is out back) They sound great! I also have headers, cam, heads, and SC.
I got the Borla ATAK at Complete Street Performance when they had a Labor Day Sale going on. Also, I don't know why, but I discovered that late at night their prices were lower on their website, so when I added the sale coupon code, it was an additional 5% off of the lower price.

The bullets are as close to a straight pipe. an 8/10 that close. If you get the full exhaust it will sound a bit less deep than my setup, so slightly less drone. slightly, regardless you'll get used to it.
Bullets are a deep tone kinda glasspack style.

I have a '99 6m vert with the BB Bullets cat back. Personally I like the exhaust note. Nice sound at idle, not objectionnable at part throttle, good performance car sound. If you really jump on the loud pedal then they are definitely going to get your attention. At cruise, running 1400 r's and a bit above there is a noticeable drone. It seems to disappear as you approach 2000 and you get off the gas to cruise. Bothers some people more than others. I'm not bothered with it so much, tunes are good and conversation good. With the top down you will definitely hear the exhaust note, and again, in my opinion, not objectionable. On decel the Bullets burble, once again bothers some and others not. Personally I like the burble. I frequently get compliments on the exhaust note. For quality, fit and finish and ease of installation I give BB credit. Value was very good and several hundreds of dollars less than other systems I looked at. I think your best bet would be to find a Bullet equipped car and take a test ride. I think Bullets fall into the love 'em or hate 'em category, with me falling into the love 'em group. The aforementioned is my opinion only.

Thats the problem now..damn plague has cancelled most car shows where i used to check stuff out. There also the wife factor..she rides with me once in a while..usually long trips..hates loud noises, etc. Just researched the ATAK..that might be a better option. I can always hand her some head phones..BOSE noise cancelling might work LOL...
On another note..when I replaced my race bike exhaust ( it was stock for a whole day) with a small slip on can..holy hell..loudest thing I ever heard..have to wear earplugs its so loud. 107 db at full...98 at idle...that will wake you up.

I have long tubes, catless x pipe and PRT's. I agree with Sean, fairly quiet at idle and loud when you get on it. I can drive it with little noise if I am easy on the throttle.

Based on what you're saying the BBs are probably not a good option for you. If you're bored, you could put the money towards a supercharger. You won't be bored after that!

I had the Billy Boat PRT exhaust on my 98 C5 convertible. With the top up, the drone was irritating. Also, I have heard complaints about drone with the Billy Boat Bullets. Currently, I have Borla ATAK exhaust on my 2000 C5 couoe. Fantastic sound and tone with no drone. I am convinced the Borla ATAK is worth the extra money if you can afford it.

Corsa, Borla, and Z06 bypass mod are the best no drone exhaust options.

Corsa makes a very good exhaust. I had the Indy Pace Car version on my '03 and loved it. Gave a very nice idle and was OK when just cruising around and through normal acceleration. But step on the gas, and the exhaust really wakes up and screams. That version is no longer made, but they replaced it with the Sport system - not sure if it sounds the same or not. In any case, Corsa is known to be free of drone.
