Love all the photos above! Are not puppy dogs the best? True friends that give unconditional affection and love.. They don't care if you are rich or poor, live in a mansion or a pup tent, fat or skinny, beautiful or ugly. A gentle pat, a belly rub and kindness is all it takes to earn their love. Simply the best companions. Lots of folks can learn the real meaning of of being a true friend from them. Best wishes to all!

My wife is an animal rescue volunteer.. we have three rescues right now. its difficult to watch those commercials about abused animals, I turn them off immediately.. its so sad.. Now they are saying cats an dogs can carry Covid although they cant transmit it to humans.. many people see only that they are carriers. So the wont risk an adoption

I have 7 rescues at my home right now. All of them, ranging from a crippled Pomeranian to a German Shepherd who had been hit by a car on the highway and everything in between, were taken in and stayed. Some I have had for fifteen years. I used to breed and raise Golden Retrievers years ago but found rescues of all breeds, taking more and more of my time, and to be the most rewarding efforts of my life..

I have always had a dog. My current chiweenie is a rescue. She is very old now and has canine dementia. She may have a year more. Sadly it’s my last dog. During my career in law enforcement I had several death calls where the person lived alone and had a dog. In a few of those there was no next of kin available to pick up the dog so animal control had to get the dog. We all know how that ends up. So I decided that I can not have another one now that I am 56. There is no guarantee that I would outlive another one. Add to that I have had to put down 5 so far when they got old and sick and cannot bear to do it again. So hug your dogs, take them for many rides and make the most out of every minute. They are a gift. I will miss having one.

You should get another dog when the time comes. Make advanced arrangements for its care if necessary. Don’t deny yourself (or the dog for that matter) the companionship. You sound like the kind of owner any dog would be lucky to have.
