I have owned 1 C1 1959, 2 C2s 1963 roadster, 1966 roadster, 2 C3s 1968 convertible, 1981 coupe, 3 C4s 2- 1984s, 1986 coupe and a 2001 coupe.
Back in 1986 owned the three in the pic below:
66 59 86
The 59 and 66 I really regret selling these days.

Arrived in LA from New Zealand in 1999...Bought this 86 for about $6500 if I recall...Drove to Arizona and hung around there with an online girl friend I ended up living with ...Toured all around AZ and then we hit the road. Went to New Mexico, Colorado, Utah, Nevada, Las Vegas of course, over to Lake Tahoe and over to San Fran...Then down the Pacific Coast to San Diego...Back to AZ and through to Nogales Mexico... Stayed for 3 months and left the car at her place...Came back to NZ for a couple of months then flew back to AZ or another 3 months and shipped the car home to New Zealand. I bought a C5 about 6 years ago and still have it.

2022 C5 of the Year Finalist - Modified
2021 C5 of the Year Finalist - Modified
Short answer is no. I had never even sat in a Corvette before, of any generation. We are generally (gasp!) Mustang people. I also had a 2005 Pontiac GTO cam swapped car for 7 years. It was a really good car but I never really bonded with it.
I've always had a soft spot since the 90s for the C5 Corvette. Always said I'd own one. 21 years later and I finally found one that fit my criteria that was low miles.
I like to modify cars, mostly performance stuff, and I liked that I could have fun with a C5 and not feel guilty about goofing around with a truly classic Corvette.

I started with a 75 L82 4 spd car. Then a 77.....then came the 88 vert, then a 90 vert, then the 93 Anniversary edition coupe, then a 90 coupe, now happy to be driving a 99 vert with 15000 miles, 6 spd, torch red. I love it. Definitely the nicest one I've ever owned. I'm kinda hooked.

I had a Red 84 , fun car but it kept me busy trying to keep it cool and trying to keep the headlights workin.... I put a grand sport stripe down the middle of it like the blue model has , sorry no pictures ...
but this is my new ride , 1998 with 13k miles the guys that had this before barley drove it , it literally is like showroom new

I'm on my 5th Vette. Started with a C4 when I was 26... Now 48 and in a 50th Anniversary convertible beauty.
C4 Quasar blue... When I was a much younger man.
My love.. a 99 Nassau Blue coupe.
My C6 Jetstream Blue coupe.
My Laguna Blue C7 coupe. I see a blue pattern here....
My current ride. Broke with tradition. Went back to a C5, but this time an Anniversary Red Convertible.

1971 Ontario Orange coupe, 454 4 sped, completely maxed out on options, a truly beautiful C3 which I should never have sold. Deep regrets on being foolish enough to have let it go. 1976 350 4spd nicely optioned, blue, A nice cruiser when up to speed but a real slug getting there. No regrets at all letting it go! Currently a 1999 C5 6m Vert, Black w/Firethorn interior. Lightly modded, Does everything well and a real pleasure to own and drive.

Nope...She did come to New Zealand for a full tour but in the end I didnt want to separate her from her USA family, and way of life for here ....And s much as I loved the USA, on my return my father was diagnosed with terminal cancer so we went our own ways...Stayed in touch over the years till I decided to disengage with Facebook a few years back...Although I did have a peek the other day and see she has married .
