Default Engine Appearance

Generally I don't care for engine dress up items.
The whole "If it don't go chrome it" runs through my mind, purposeful or forget it.
But when I open the hood on my 2001 C5, all I see is black plastic, kind of a bummer.
Thought of Z06 fuel rail covers.
Thought of painting my stock fuel rail cover Chevrolet Engine Orange.
Thought of after market carbon fiber fuel rail covers.
Kind of hate things that look but aren't performance.
I know leaving it stock is the smart way, but damn, I'd like a bit of visual zoom or flair under the hood.
Kind of dislike the covers anyway.
What have yinz done?

New hood liner with SS emblem and buttons

Cleaned engine bay and billet caps.

next will be a billet and CF cover for the brake fluid reservoir and CF look fuel rail covers. This will come after new plugs and plug wires and new billet catch can. Also will add a SS and CF battery den cover.

A little goes a long way. A battery cover, headers to get rid of the EGR crap, some brighter colored fuel rail covers, and a painted alternator and bracket clean things up a lot

I too think there is way too much black plastic in the engine bay. I plan on going with torch red fuel rail covers, chrome radiator cover, alternator and bracket, caps, chrome brake fluid reservoir, painted windshield fluid and coolant overflow tanks, a battery cover, and a hood liner with some emblem (probably Corvette flags, but I haven't decided on that yet)...

I like the stock appearance of my C5 but damn, that's the nicest aftermarket look I've seen. Would you mind sharing the manufacturer's information?

Rk sports makes the one piece engine cover. The late Double D Mods painted the silver. I believe James William's at Bad Boy customs does them now. RK sports also makes a complete carbon fiber dress up kit. Radiator surge tank cover, wiper tank cover, brake booster cover, power steering cover and inner wheel well cover. The carbon fiber battery cover I purchased from a forum member. I am still searching for the right alternator cover. The fluid reservoir caps are carbon fiber and chrome also.

Clean is mean. Simple mods go a long way. Hydro-dipped my fuel rail covers just to hide the gaudy red. Temporary fix until I install aftermarket valve covers, fuel rails, and LS3 coils. Removed all the excess warning decals. Added painted inner fender covers. Replaced the red plug wires with blue ones. Will be replacing the alternator with a black Mechman version.

Everything in here is a touch too showey for me. Not that that is a bad thing. I just like simplicity.

Then again I don't come from a hood up at shows back ground either. Again not knocking those that love that part of their car hobby.

I don't even run fuel rail covers on my LS engines. They don't serve a useful purpose to me. Why does my fuel rail need covered? and Coil packs? they are what makes the engine run and serve a purpose therefore they should be there lol.

Take it all in good fun. My engine when clean looks fantastic to me. It has about 3k dollars worth of parts thrown in to it at 30k miles all in the name of N/A fun. Doesn't leak, and runs like a squirrel getting chased by a dog.

I will say my chinese catch can that was on the car when I bought it needs to be thrown in the garbage. I am done trying to get that thing to stop leaking.

I like showing my engine when I can. Black paint, SS, chrome, hydrocarbon & real carbon.

A few years ago, I started to finish a painting project for my '02 coupe. When I bought it, the fuel rails had already been done so I painted the coolant tank and the washer tank.
I also cleaned up and re-polished the aluminum components of the supercharger.

I open my hood a few times a year for maintenance. No one else is in my garage to see whether there is "bling" under the hood. This stuff looks great idea if you want to be the guy who's for sale ad says $45,000 invested, asking $16,500 or best offer.

Nothing wrong with dressing up the engine bay a bit, and it can actually be done fairly inexpensively...

Yeah mine has hydrodipped fuel rail covers but I wish it didn't. Too busy driving it to clean under the hood, too.

It's a hobby car for me.
I've got 1 kid in college and another who will be.
I actually enjoy cleaning and detailing it.
I don't do shows, a cruise in every now and again.
I'd been thinking if I could carefully paint the fuel rail covers, Chevy engine orange, that might look cool.
My priorities, won't let me spend too much.
Bitchin fun car to drive.
Top down stirring the 6 speed in clean Corvette is hard to beat.
