You want attention while trying to gas up? Try a sidecar with a dog. It's like being a celebrity! There is a term for it called SDF (sidecar delay factor). Everybody wants to talk, pet the dog, take photos, especially if he has his doggles on. You get people slowing down next to you while you are driving down the road to take photos, give thumbs up or wave. It's fun but can get tiresome.

The C5 is still a great looking car with what I consider a classic design. Most people will acknowledge a beautiful ride.

I got compliments every time I took my C5 out.. I recived more compliments daily when it was 20 years old over when it was new.

Plenty of people stop me at the gas station with mine, and I think part of that is because I'm a lot younger than they expect a Corvette owner to be. Never had a negative remark or anything. People appreciate clean and nice cars.

I think the C5 remains one of the slickest looking cars on the road. Very low, slippery and aero type styling always comes off looking good. My black '99 vert still brings a lot of compliments at 20 years old.

I get them all the time. Funny how surprised some are that it's 15 years old...

In the C8 section, guys thirsty for the newest and at the same time a shark pit in terms of rude attitudes it was a surprise to see the c5z06 get a ton of praise heaped onto it.

I just got two compliments last Wednesday, one of them from a guy driving a new white Camaro! He was very enthusiastic in his praise of the color and the overall "looks" of the car. Those made me smile the rest of the day!
Funny. I never get any such kudos about my Suburban...

Yes! 9 times out of 10, people think it's five years old at most. When I tell them it will be 20yrs old in April, they are more than surprised! I find that a large part of the joy of being a steward of these beauties!

Most of us with " Nice " C5's take good care of them. In 20 years no one ever saw my car dirty.. I actually never saw it dirty.. I never put it away without a touch up.
Car people and semi car people will recognize a Corvette especially when it is clean. Clean seems to be the common denominator when you have a Car person's car. Be it a Mopar, Chevy, Ford. When you , as a car person, see a " Clean car "that is showroom clean, you take notice. Usually no mater what it is. Ive complimented people with a super clean Pinto. I recognize the effort to take care of the machinery.

Costco in Carson? I took mine there yesterday too! Amazing how much crap you can cram into a C5. Was that your yellow vert parked out on the street?

I took the back way going over Monitor Pass to Markleeville and up highway 88. It was a beautiful day for a drive. Leaves were just starting to turn over the pass. Didn't stop to take any photos though. Passed a couple pokies holding up traffic and didn't want to get stuck behind them again! The only compliment I got on mine was from my 18 year old nephew when I stopped in G-Ville on the way home. Clouded over by the time I got home.

I love Genoa and go there often. Candy Dance is this weekend.

No mine was not the yellow one. That one was for sale. 65k on the odo and they wanted $17500 for it. It was stock and in good shape. I think i saw you around town though. A great drive mid to late October is June Lake Loop.

Yes it can be fun.
But, to tell you the truth, sometimes I wish folks would back off a little.
If I go get fuel everyone wants to look at my car, then,it's, can I help them
with a mechanical problem, on their car. Next, it's hey, can I sit in your car, then can
I take a picture of your car. geez I am just trying to get some gas.............
I am glad your popular OP, nice car.
Good luck

I looked out my office window to check out my great looking C5 and there were two hot Latinas taking selfies with it.

Yep, still pulls in the compliments! Seventeen years old and most are amazed at that. Plus, mine has always lived outside and been driven in all conditions but snow.
