Glad no one was seriously hurt or killed in that wreck. Shame to see a nice car end up like that.

My youngest son was ADD, had a real hard time at school. In the middle of his junior year I told him that if he bought his grades up, I would let him drive the Vette (my '90) for the first day of his senior year. He bought his grades up and I let him drive it, with the warning that everyone knew the car and if he did something stupid I would hear about it. There were no problems. He tried hard his senior year and did well so I let him take it to prom. Again no problem. My wife drives the C5 occasionally to work (she gets to park in a garage) and I have no problem with that. She enjoys the car as much as I do and truthfully, she looks better in it than I do!

Well, it's been replaced... as much as I miss the 2k I think I've done pretty good without settling... Be hanging around the C6 forum for a while. I spend several good years hanging out here and you guys are great!

Maybe you should rethink your car-loaning policies? As in - stop doing it. "Just say no".
One would think you'd have learned your lesson the first time.....obviously not.

I'll tell you this, you're asking for trouble. True Corvette lovers would NEVER let ANYONE, with the possible exception of their wife, drive their car!! I saw this happen years ago when a good friend, who had the fastest motorcycle in the nearest 2 or 3 counties, let his Brother-in-Law take his bike for a ride. He was gone a little longer than he should've been. When he came back, the bike was barely idling, had a nasty internal noise, and was smoking. Come to find out, he had missed a gear, overrevved the bejesus out of it, and the motor dropped a valve. My buddy NEVER let anybody ride it again, family or otherwise. Yeah, you might get lucky, and nothing happens. But if you don't, and someone kills themselves, and/or someone else, while trying to show off, or see how fast it goes, it'll be too late........

Do you really think people show off, do burnouts, and shift into overdrive at 140mph in a mini Cooper or a Prius? Get real! Of COURSE the Vette had something to do with it!!!
