Times have changed as they will nail you hard for street racing these days.Back in the day you could get away with quite a lot compared to now. I get It from BMW's the most as Mustangs tend to lay low. I just wave them off to let them know i am not interested. Haven't had a ticket in over 40 years and would like to keep he Z06 from the impound lot.

Are you a native of New Jersey? If you are, you should be well-versed in a lot of people's mindset in that neck of the woods. "Me first, no matter what it takes". New Jersey drivers have been labeled the rudest drivers in the U.S. for a reason. They'll cut you off at a toll booth, that a shoe-horn would think twice about doing the same stunt. Street racing is a recipe for disaster, and their is no one waiting in your driveway to hand you a trophy for a race that only 2 people cared about. Rise above the stupidity, and the people that drive pissed off. You'll live longer, and keep your insurance rates low. Just my .02

I am a Jersey native, the roads are indeed a zoo. If you haven’t spent any time here it’s hard to imagine the extent of it. Will be interesting seeing the drivers tomorrow heading to the Jersey Shore for the 4th on the parkway, thankfully I’m not driving.

I agree with what you said, thanks for the reminder.

No street racing for me. My somewhat illegal adrenaline high is taking my C5 early Sunday morning to the on ramp to 95 where I can see all the traffic coming and if none, let it rip.

That stuff is better left to the track, or least get out on some back roads where there's no other vehicles around...

I would have been too embarrassed to post about racing a 3 ton SUV.

Took my car out today for a cruise. Cops were out pretty heavy but traffic in general was light. Street racing is fun but you gotta be careful you dont hurt yourself or others.

Street racing is just not worth it - great way to get arrested, huge fine, increased insurance rates, injure/kill someone, etc. Best to do the racing on a sanctioned track.

I will throw in my 2 cents, the problem as I see it here is the speed you hit and also doing it with your daughter in the car (bad example for her). I do my own version of street racing on straight wide stretches of road, I never provoke it and always wait for them to make a move, then I go WOT for about 3 to 4 seconds blowing by them, then hit the brakes so they can see I’m not racing anymore. This only works because I have a stalled, cammed/sc,d 383 with 342 gears hidden in a vert. The reaction is always the same is this still illegal? Yes of course but it’s way safer than going all out with a evenly matched car for 8 to 15 seconds into triple digits. I would not bother if my car was stock, there is way too many cars that are a close race and would take way too long and be too dangerous to establish a winner.

My new corporate office is in Burlington, NJ...I just resigned my position not long ago, that is based in King's Park, on Long Island. I drive 48 states extensively. Believe me when I tell you. West Coast and East Coast, are the worst for driving bar-none. People doing 80 in a 55 or, 15 mph+ over in a school/construction zone. The impatience and aggressive driving is mind-boggling to see so many that do it. One of my former co-worker's in Long Island had taken me along in his car to show me the volume of people paying tickets at the police station. My jaw was on the ground when I saw the line was out the door. He says to me, Tom that is normal. I said thanks, that reaffirms where I don't want to live.

Hope your 4th was a good one....

What is the least favorable possible outcome?
Consider that question when deciding how to act in public.
Hint: 2nd least favorable is life in prison.

That's still over 5,200lbs and runs roughly a 13 second quarter.
