Default Cutting out the rear trunk well?

Ok, I have decided to cut out the rear well in my 2001 convertible because I hate the look of it from the rear. I basically searched on this topic for a few hours looking for detailed photos and methods and have only seen a few pictures. One was from really sweet custom 3" exhaust, but then I could not find it again. I want to cut it completely flush and bond a sheet of aluminum over the hole. I am not concerned about resale value as I have owned this car since 2002 and have too much money invested to ever consider selling it. I tend to mod the things I own to suite me and not a potential buyer. That being said, has anyone done it of have a link to a decent write-up? I am pretty sure that an hour and a demel tool with take care of this monstrosity. I will lose my 12" sub but I can work around that.

Post up those pics or links if you have them!

Following.

I have been contemplating same thing. Primarily because I have a c6z trans/rear swap and exhaust has to be hacked up to fit. I have read c6 exhaust will fit if you cut out the trunk well.

Once I do undertake, I will take a lot of pictures and attempt to document the process, but for now, looking to be a copy cat!

Pretty darn sure this is correct, yep.
I use the tub for a blanket that keeps my carpet in decent shape when hauling the metal speaker stands I make. Otherwise I'd almost contemplate this also.

Here's the link,https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...-tub-hump.html. Why will you lose the subwoofer, are you using the remaining space for something else?

He's removing the tub entirely...
