One of just 2,025 produced and sporting 1,708 miles, this rare 'Vette is a solid bet.

These cars were readily available to anyone with a checkbook. Being rare is an indication not many people wanted those options or color for the price. Being low mileage indicates the previous owner was a foolish investor that dreamed this vehicle would go up in value over time. For years it was likely stored, insured and had some level of maintenance. A solid bet? I hope someone drives it in the future.

My local dealer has one with 12.5k miles - it's super clean. Original owner even framed the window sticker and it's in the trunk.
I didn't think the price was too bad either.

Lousy pics I know - it's now sitting in their Corvette area inside since the temps have dropped.

I'd say $36.3K was a pretty good price for the car.

The Z16 although isn't a rare version, it is a unique Z06 to end the C5.
It should hold its value >4K above a comparable Z06. My .02

I’ve got (paper) pictures from back in ‘04 at Commerce dragstrip in Georgia when I brought my Incon twin turbo 02 Firehawk for some runs and a brand new CEz06 was there, but also with us was a ‘96 Viper GTS blue/white stripes and it made all other cars there disappear both in the crowd count gathered and looking back in pictures. Since brand new because of that experience the CEz has never pushed my buttons as it does for some others.

Happy with our Z06/Z16 (#165) and even happier that we've driven her since taking ownership in 2004...if not we'd have missed out on (1) being selected by Harlen Charles (GM engineer behind the Z16 concept) as the "celebrity choice" car show winner at the C5 10th Anniversary Birthday Bash, (2) being selected by the NCM and BG Assembly Plant as one of the four cars to represent each body style produced by the plant at the 30th anniversary of the plant in 2011, and (3) participating in the Historic Motorama II celebrating GMs 100th anniversary in Detroit, September 2008. #165 also participated in the photo shoot of the largest gathering of Z16s during the NCM 20th anniversary. She has a little over 46K miles on her now but they are certainly miles of smiles and awesome memories.

They are rim protectors and I have them installed (red) on my BBS wheels. I have received many complements and the scheme really makes the wheels "pop"!.

I love Vettes just about as much as anyone in this forum, but this is just another reason why people need to drive these cars and just enjoy them. Far too many stories of time capsules like this being put away, only to disappoint decades later. The most current example of this would be the C4 ZR-1 which has been LUCKY to fetch half the sticker on cars with double to triple digit miles. And those are the ones with absolutely no miles.
VERY few of the modern Corvettes are going to appreciate significantly over time, if at all. They just don't attract a similar crowd or clientele as a european or italian sports car...and thus, the money for that matter.
If ya really wanna invest, play the market. NOT the car market.
