Default Tires for 2001 Z06 (non is stock)

I can't find any high performance street tires in stock for my 2001 Z06 (265/40/17 front, 295/35/18 rear). I'm currently running Goodyear Eagle F1 Supercar. They are (along with Michelin PS2's) on back order for several months. Does anyone know where I can get either the Goodyear F1 or the Michelin PS'2 (in stock).

The 265 series front tire will be difficult to find. Only a few still manufacture that size. You can go to a 255 or 275 series to give more options. In my opinion, there are better tires than the Goodyear Supercars. There are plenty of threads on tire suggestion and options. You may want to do some reading and change brands / models of tires rather than wait for the back orders to come in.

The Z06 tire sizes (primarily the fronts) are in low demand and the manufacturer that makes them will do a limited run once or twice a year. That plays into the backlog.

Goodyear, Michelin, and Toyo are about it at this time and who knows how far into the future.

Thanks for your input. Much appreciated. Any suggestions on what other brands you would consider? I'm even not opposed to changing wheel sizes at this point.

I found Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 (non N4) in the 265 size and the PS2 (N4) in the 295 size. Do you think it's OK to run non N4 in the front and N4 in the rear.

Yep. This is the best choice right now in my opinion.

Are you referring to the Toyo Proxes T1 Sport? These only have a Y speed rating? I do track my car from time to time.

Based on what I've read, they do not recommend mixing N rated tire with non N rated tires. The tire material and construction is different. Same can be said for run flat vs non run flat.

You quoted my response and asked for other tire suggestions, I cannot make a good recommendation due to you tracking your car while I don't. I run Continental DWS06 to meet my needs. I found the Supercars wore out quickly and didn't have the grip I was expecting. Then when temps got cold, they were even worse!

I'm running Nittos NT 555 and haven't had any issue, I don't track my car but I sure do a lot of mountain road carving. Great traction and smooth ride, good luck !

An N-rated tire is a tire from one of various Porsche-approved tire manufacturers that has passed a series of difficult and diverse tests designed by Porsche engineers to ensure maximum performance and safety under a wide range of driving conditions.

Yes they "only" have a Y speed rating. Which if memory serves is the highest rating given at 186mph. I have not heard of a higher rating. But if there is higher I stand corrected.

Are you tracking your car enough that you need an R compound tire? A "regular" street tire might not be enough for you. Just saying because I dont know fully what your goals with the tire are.

C5 OEM tires were Z rated, which used to mean "above 149mph", as that was the top of the V range, and at that time there were no ratings between V and Z. Most high performance tires seem to be Y rated these days as against Z, but Chevy's web site says the C7 comes with Z rated tires (Michelins).

OK, I've had it looking for tires to fit my current wheels. I'm not looking at purchasing new wheels to allow me to expand tire availability. Is anyone running 19" wheels all around? I'm looking at 275's on the front and 305's on the rear. Anyone else running that setup on a base C5 coupe (non Z06) with no traction control or wheel well rubbing issues?

At the times, Z was the highest and was just 149+ mph. Eventually with more high-end and exotic options becoming available that could easily surpass 149mph, a need for further clarification arose. That's where W and Y speed ratings were created. They eclipse the Z rating. All W(168) and Y(186) rated tires are Z rated. However, not all Z tires can call themselves W or Y.

I have seen c5z cars on 19s, but most are on 18" all the way around I think, just staggered widths. Lots of tire options and tire cost is much more reasonable.
