small motor/buzzing sound at rear
my 98 base with a full fuel tank was parked in the garage for 18 hours with the hatch up and on a battery tender and key off and removed , the next day i was standing at the right rear and could hear a small motor/buzzing sound once for about 10 seconds , any idea what it is ? thanks in advance

Sounds like a fuel pump. Does the C5 have a pressure switch like some other cars? I know some cars will do that if the fuel pressure falls, making it easy to start after sitting a while.

Melting Slicks
An old Camaro I had 15 years ago used to do that, it was something in the fuel system, the emission control system has some kinda pump that responds to tank pressure I thnk.

Early C5s sometimes have loud fuel pumps but the buzzing would be directly behind the driver seat.
Some early C5s have the EBCM (electronic brake control module) and it's attached pump located in the rear bumper which was changed to the front of the engine bay in '01.
There's no rhyme or reason, some early cars are in the front too. Mostly in the rear though.
Here's a picture of a rear mounted unit in a '98. You'll notice the pump is right behind the differential. You possibly heard it cycling.
