Default Front lower spoiler

Quick question- my '01 coupe is lowered and I was considering cutting my front spoilers an inch or so to have a bit more clearance. Will this cause any cooling issues? I have a DeWitt radiator don't even come close to ever over heating even in Phx,AZ

thx

You'll probably be fine. If it starts overheating, just put a new air dam back on. Easy peasy.

Total removal of mine...years ago. Did not notice any difference in engine temps. Looks better IMHO also.

Alot of people says it's needed for airflow or you will overheat. I have had mine off for years and no issues. I recently put it back on just to see if it made a difference...It made 0 difference..

The Center section is the only spoiler needed for cooling.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I think that there are three sections of spoiler attached to the underside front of the C5. Did you remove all three sections and no issues? I'd like to do the same.

TIA

Don't they also serve to keep air out from under the car (thus help with both stability at speed and drag)?

I'd be curious to see your results as I'm in Phoenix as well and with my 180 T-stat (and adjusted fans), my coolant is almost never over 205 degrees max (usually cruse at 195).

Sides removed, when I first cut the center section even with my fangs I was always running on the 220 degree mark at slow speeds 30-40, I then cut a new one to hang 1" below the fangs & temp is 190-205 mark at those speeds, unless I drive aggressively it stays below the 220 mark.

ok. I checked out the post camaroguy recommended. I believe that to be correct but I am looking to only remove just over an inch (not the whole assembly).
what is really interesting is that i am looking to install a magnusen supercharger this winter. the installation instructions state to cut the top portion on the line. I would imagine they wouldn't suggest doing so if it was going to materially detrimental to performance

I believe people in the thread I posted even said trimming is one thing (particularly on lowered vehicles), removing it in its entirety is a whole different situation. Trimming (on a lowered vehicle) shouldn't change anything, particularly if you don't take off more than the vehicle has been lowered.

I read somewhere that even splitters on race vehicles have an optimum height and it's at least 1" (or 2"... I can't remember) off the ground. Lower than that, the splitter actually looses effectiveness and drag goes up exponentially.
